Precautions:
1. Many patients follow the doctor's advice or take various laxatives continuously for a long time. In fact, laxatives need 3-4 days to refill the colon after being completely emptied, so it is not suitable to take them continuously.
2. laxatives generally take effect 6-8 hours after oral administration, so it is more in line with physiological laws to arrange medication time reasonably before going to bed, so defecation in the morning or after breakfast is more in line with physiological laws.
3. To treat constipation, especially habitual constipation, we must first adjust our diet and develop the habit of regular defecation. Eating more vegetables and fruits can often get good results.
4. Different types of laxatives should be selected according to different situations. If toxic substances are excluded, salt laxatives such as magnesium sulfate and sodium sulfate should be selected. General constipation, contact laxatives are more commonly used. Lubricating laxatives are better for the elderly, aneurysms and anal surgery.
5. Patients with abdominal pain cannot use laxatives under the condition of unknown diagnosis. Old and frail, pregnant or menstruating women can't use strong laxatives.
