Xinyang Teachers College, referred to as Xinyang Teachers College for short, is located in Xinyang City, Henan Province, the capital of mountains and rivers and the tea town. It is the first undergraduate college established in Henan Province after China's reform and opening up, and one of the two key undergraduate normal colleges in Henan Province.

Kaifeng Teachers College (now Henan University) Xinyang Branch was formally established 1975. Before the 1978 summer vacation venue was officially confirmed for use, the school has been borrowing the school building of Xinyang Normal School for more than three years. The conditions for running a school are very poor, and there is a lack of teaching materials, books and instruments.

In September 2002, according to the needs of social development and the requirements of higher education reform and development, the school formally proposed the goal of changing its name to "Xinyang Normal University". In April, 2003, Henan Provincial Department of Education officially approved Xinyang Normal University to open Huarui College.
