There are usually three elements:
First of all, inadvertently,
That is, accidental and unintentional accidents, such as plane crashes, street trees falling down, etc. Prevention of accidental injury
Some accidents should have been expected, but they were caused by negligence. For example, the power supply repair line was not cut off during the power outage, and the power supply was quickly restored and electrocuted. Other accidents are foreseeable, but objectively irresistible or technically inevitable, such as building fire, fire blocking doors and walkways, forced to jump from windows, and serious injuries. Or although technical measures can be taken to avoid it, it is inevitable because of the provisions of laws and duties, or because of the fulfillment of due obligations. For example, bank employees were injured while fighting with gangsters who robbed banks to protect state property.
All of the above are accidents. Any intentional act of hurting yourself, such as suicide or self-mutilation, is not an accident.
Second, it is caused by external reasons.
Refers to accidents caused by external reasons, such as food poisoning and falling into the water.
Note: the injury caused by the disease is not an accident, because it is the result of human physiological failure or metabolism.
Third, the incident happened suddenly.
That is, accidental injuries occur in a very short time, and it is too late to prevent them, such as pedestrians being suddenly knocked down by cars. Although occupational diseases such as lead poisoning and silicosis are the invasion of foreign harmful substances into the human body, it is not an accident because the injury is caused step by step and can be foreseen and prevented.
