The morphology of human head and face is highly heritable. What genetic mechanism regulates facial differences between people? Using multiple canonical correlation analysis, the researchers located 244 genetic variations affecting the head and face morphology of East Asian people, and confirmed that facial features, as typical complex traits, were influenced by multiple genes. Through the cooperation with the European team, it is further found that the difference signal between Asia and Europe may be the frequency change caused by the same function.
