Optimize BIOS settings to improve display performance

Display performance is the most important bottleneck for the performance of integrated motherboard, especially when running programs that test the performance of graphics cards such as 3D games, integrated graphics cards will expose their own shortcomings. The setting of Bios is closely related to the performance of integrated graphics card. Paying attention to and adjusting the following BIOS options can bring higher performance and stability to the integrated graphics card.

1. Update rate

For the general motherboard, the higher the AGP rate of its graphics card, the better, but not necessarily for the integrated graphics card, because at present, the integrated graphics card only uses AGP channel to transmit a small amount of instruction data, and the graphics data that really eats bandwidth has gone through the dedicated channel of "display core-memory". Therefore, AGP rate will not become the performance bottleneck of integrated graphics card, but too high AGP rate will bring unstable factors to the system. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the default value.

2. write 2.AGP quickly

Writing fast means writing fast. This option can improve the performance of the integrated graphics card, but it may also have a negative impact on the stability of the system. According to experience, only newer integrated graphics cards such as nForce2 1GP, n9 100, 66 1FX can normally use the flash option.

3. Graph window WR combine harvester

This option is common on integrated motherboards based on SiS chipset, which can optimize the reading and writing performance of graphics system and improve the performance of integrated graphics card to some extent. I suggest you turn on this option.

4. Video BIOS can be cached

Its function is to decide whether to refer VGA BIOS and RAM buffer to the address segment of memory. Although it can improve the performance of some integrated graphics cards after booting, once a program writes data to the address segment, the computer will crash. Therefore, it is recommended to turn off this option, because the video BIOS Cachable has very limited improvement on the performance of the integrated graphics card, but it has brought instability to the computer.

5.AGP pore size

The meaning of AGP aperture size option is the size of AGP effective space, that is, the size of memory allocated as video memory. How to allocate memory capacity has always been a difficult problem for integrated motherboard users. If the memory capacity is increased, the memory capacity will be reduced, which will affect the overall performance, and the memory capacity reduction will affect the performance of the graphics card. Through practical use, the performance difference of AGP aperture size option is not obvious under 32MB video memory and 64MB video memory. In fact, 32MB of memory can meet the needs of most new integrated graphics cards, while an integrated graphics card like sis630 three years ago only needs 16MB of memory.

Intel chipset integrated graphics card has its own set of memory allocation methods. In the early days, Intel's integrated graphics cards did not need to manually adjust the memory capacity, but were automatically allocated. Later, Intel added the function of "graded memory" to Intel Extreme Graphics Card and its subsequent products. The so-called hierarchical memory is "rated memory+dynamic memory". Rated memory specifies the minimum allocation value of video memory. When the minimum allocation value is not enough, it will request more memory from the operating system to be classified as video memory (dynamic video memory). Therefore, if you don't play large games, you can set the rated video memory smaller (for example, 1MB), which can not only meet the needs of the game, but also save a lot of memory. On the contrary, it is best to set the "rated video memory" to more than 8MB, which will waste some memory, but will get better game compatibility.

In addition, the memory size is closely related to the memory size (except for integrated motherboards such as Intel 8 1X). If your memory is 128MB, it is recommended to set the memory capacity within 32MB; If your memory is above 128MB, it is recommended to set the memory capacity within 64MB.

The integrated graphics card is also overclocked.

Many players have tried overclocking discrete graphics cards, and the performance of integrated graphics cards can also be improved by overclocking. Overclocking integrated graphics cards can be done by modifying the Windows registry or using special graphics card overclocking software, without setting any soft or hard jumpers. Because it takes some professional knowledge to modify the registry, it is troublesome, and the overclocking software of graphics card is simple to use and has good effect, so it is the first choice for players.

PowerStrip is a general overclocking software for graphics cards. After the installation, run PowerStrip, and a dialog box will appear, showing the models of graphics cards and monitors, whether the refresh rate definition is set according to the standard or user-defined, whether to run DDC to check the plug-and-play monitor at startup, and other information. Then click the "OK" button, PowerStrip will reside in memory and display the work icon in the taskbar. Right-click this icon to pop up the main menu of PowerStrip work, and then select "Performance Profile-Configuration". The software will pop up a dialog box according to the type of graphics card chip you use, and the display chip type of the graphics card will be marked at the top. The box under "engine clock" is the core working frequency of the current graphics card, and the box under "memory clock" is the current working frequency of the video memory. If you want to overclock the graphics card, just drag the slider of memory frequency or kernel frequency on the left to the appropriate frequency, and then click the "Applv" button to switch the graphics card to the new frequency. I would like to remind you that when overclocking, don't be too eager for success. You should adjust it step by step, and don't greatly increase its working frequency at one time. Pay attention to check the temperature and heat dissipation environment of the chipset after overclocking.

In addition, for some integrated motherboards, BIOS can be used to adjust the frequency of display core, which is simpler and more convenient.

Reasonable setting of integrated sound card

Sound card takes up much less system resources than video card, but it will save some system resources through reasonable setting. For example, in the Windows environment, turning off the StoreWide or 3D Depth options in the volume control will greatly reduce the CPU utilization of the sound card. Generally speaking, the default value of Windows is on.

If you have a high demand for sound quality. Using the audio cable of an ordinary sound card may not meet your requirements. When listening to CD or VCD, you can directly connect the speaker to the headphone jack of the CD-ROM drive, because this is a digital output effect, which is much better than the original analog signal output and has less distortion.

If you don't like listening to CDs, it is suggested to turn off both MIC and CD in the sound properties, which can greatly avoid all kinds of noises. The specific solution is to double-click the speaker icon in the system taskbar, and then mute the CD-ROM drive and microphone phone.

As for the specific setting of high and low notes, the ideal solution is to adjust the bass slider of your sound card to 60% and the treble to 80%, and the total volume of the system should be around 85%. Of course, you can also take any value according to your personal taste.

For the motherboards of nForce2 and SIS 655 chipsets with ALC650 AC97 sound chip, it is easy to appear sonic boom when playing audio files. This is because there are some problems in its hardware acceleration support for DirectSound. As long as you run the DirectX diagnostic tool and reduce the "hardware sound acceleration level" in the "sound" speed item, the degree of sonic boom can be reduced.

Correctly adjust CPU main frequency and memory frequency

The main frequency of CPU and the frequency of memory are both important factors affecting the integrated motherboard, especially its display performance. At present, the motherboard has a certain frequency division ratio for non-standard external frequencies, and in general, the memory may be used at a reduced frequency when the CPU is overclocked. So who has the greater influence on CPU frequency or memory frequency?

For an integrated motherboard supporting dual-channel DDR memory, memory bandwidth is sufficient, and the performance bottleneck mainly comes from CPU, so increasing the CPU frequency appropriately will bring higher performance. For those integrated motherboards that only support single channel DDR memory, the performance bottleneck comes from memory bandwidth, not CPU, so it is more reasonable to increase the memory frequency appropriately.

The ST 1520/ ST 1720 of Wilson Bank adopts the advanced VIA Eden ESP 600 MHz/ 1GHz processor, as well as VIA VT8606 North Bridge and VIA VT823 1 South Bridge. The north bridge of VT8606 provides SDRAM memory support up to 256 m, which integrates the functions of display module. The south bridge of VT823 1 provides a serial port, a parallel port, two USB ports and a CardBus slot. The main unit is integrated with 15 or 17 inch LCD screen, and equipped with two built-in speakers and a full-function sound module. Its optional touch screen makes it an effective utility tool for kiosks and point of sale.

Weixin Bank can integrate the functions of the host into the display body, and the key is the credit of VIA's ultra-small and ultra-low heating motherboard and Eden CPU. VIA's EPIA series motherboards can achieve the size of a CD box, and its Eden ESP CPU can meet the heat dissipation requirements only by passive heat dissipation of the heat sink even if the main frequency is as high as1g.. Therefore, it is the solution of VIA's ultra-small size and ultra-low heat embedded system to create such a "fully built-in" slimming PC product.

Of course, at present, this advanced product is not only available abroad, but also similar products in China, but it has not been widely promoted and its application is limited. According to the facts, BOE, Zhongke Cheng Yi and other manufacturers have finished products on the market.
