Only a few scholars in China have heard of the word yoga before. 1985 With CCTV 1 and CCTV 2 broadcasting a 30-minute TV series "Huilan" almost every morning and evening, yoga and Zhang Huilan have entered thousands of households and are deeply loved by hundreds of millions of viewers. This program has achieved very high ratings, as evidenced by its uninterrupted broadcast from 1985 to 2000. It is one of the longest-running TV dramas in China TV history.
Out of selfless love, Whelan is willing to share yoga with others, and has never used it for personal gain. She always said, "Since I accepted the wonderful gift of yoga more than 30 years ago, I have put myself in the position of serving everyone, and I want to share yoga with the people of China. This is the only way for me to express and repay my gratitude to the revered Bai Zhongyan. " Whelan decided to use TV as the best way to realize her wish. So she started this arduous task, making first-class yoga TV series for the people of China.
In addition to TV series, Huilan also co-authored a 630-page bestseller "Yoga Qigong and Meditation" with Bai Zhongyan, a contemporary and profound orthodox yoga master, and maintained the ranking of one of the best sellers in China over 2 1 year.
In 1990s, foreign countries began to notice Whelan and her unique yoga practice.
