If you want to make good class notes, you can't just draw a sketch or just make a copier. The following two sets of methods of taking class notes (also suitable for taking reading notes) should be mastered by you.
The first choice of class notes, Cornell notes are the first choice. Cornell notes, also called 5R notes, include five steps: recording, reducing, reciting, reflecting and reviewing. The specific notation of Cornell's notes is as follows:
1. First, divide a page of note paper into three parts: note column, clue column and summary column.
2. During the class, write down the important contents of the class quickly in the "note column" on the right;
3. Summarize the simplified notes in time after class, and fill in the key points in the "clue column" on the left, which can be the key words prompted or the questions set according to the notes.
After all this is done, you can make a brief summary of the above contents in the following "summary column" to make your thinking clearer.
5. After the notes are made, the next step is to remember and review. When memorizing, you can cover the note column with your hand or a piece of paper, and recall the specific content of the note column or what was said in class according to some tips in the clue column.
6. The same is true when reviewing in the future. Cover the note column first and remember according to the clue column. In the whole process of memory and review, if you have new insights or gains, you can make corresponding supplements. If it is not easy to operate, you can use post-it notes or organize it separately.
1, key points
Marking the key points is a habit of each of us, which helps to improve the efficiency of study and review. But when many people draw the key points, they often turn the whole book into a key point, and it is all a line.
It doesn't make much sense. In order to better take notes in books, it is best to establish a set of "markup language" that belongs only to you. In other words, different colors of pens or labels and different symbols are given fixed meanings, for example, red lines represent error-prone content, yellow lines represent facts and conceptual content, and blue lines represent good words and sentences. Once we have determined our own markup language, we can extract information quickly and efficiently in the future. At the same time, you can also make a set of "indexes" on the title page or blank space of the book, and mark the page numbers of important contents according to your marking language. This is similar to a book catalogue, which helps you find it quickly when you need it later.
Step 2 express your opinions
In the process of reading, when reading or listening to some important contents that are difficult to understand, you can describe the relevant contents in your own words.
When you read or hear something that inspires you, write down your inspiration and feelings beside it. If it is not convenient to write in a book, you can use post-it notes to assist.
When you read or hear something you can use in the future, you can think about how to use it and write down your specific ideas and plans in your notes or notebooks. After reading the book, remind yourself to take action.
For scattered knowledge under a theme, or chapters with more knowledge points, you can take study notes in the form of mind maps. Form knowledge into mind map (a series), our thinking will be clearer, and whether we understand, remember or use knowledge, our efficiency will be higher.
