On February 5, 2008, 65438, the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait held the signing ceremony of the Wenchuan Earthquake Reconstruction Agreement in Yingxiu Town, Sichuan Province.

Jiang Yiman, executive vice president of China Red Cross Society, and Chen, president of Taiwan Province Red Cross Society, signed the agreement. The signing ceremony was attended by the Taiwan Province Affairs Office of the State Council, relevant leaders of Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces, and responsible persons of the Red Cross.

On May, 2008 12 14: 28, an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale occurred in Wenchuan, affecting Gansu and Shaanxi provinces. Tens of thousands of compatriots were killed in the disaster, millions of families lost their homes handed down from generation to generation, and the wealth accumulated by decades of hard work was destroyed. Disaster is merciless. In the face of the sudden huge disaster, the people of the whole country, our compatriots in Taiwan Province, Hong Kong and Macao, overseas Chinese and the international community actively donated money to help the people in the earthquake-stricken areas.

Shortly after the earthquake, the Red Cross Society of Taiwan Province Province immediately organized a search and rescue team to carry out emergency search and rescue operations, and sent a medical team to the disaster area according to the needs of the disaster area to provide medical assistance services to the affected people. In Taiwan Province Province, there are also touching fund-raising activities. All walks of life actively donated money and delivered a large number of rescue and relief materials to the disaster area.

Recovery and reconstruction after Wenchuan earthquake is a very arduous and challenging task. Facing the difficult situation of vast territory, large population, complex natural conditions and serious infrastructure damage in the disaster area, under the overall reconstruction plan, the Red Cross Society of Taiwan Province Province actively participated in post-disaster reconstruction projects according to the needs of the disaster area and the reconstruction plan. The earthquake caused many schools and hospitals to be damaged and collapsed, which brought great difficulties to the people in the disaster area for medical treatment and students' study. Helping compatriots, alleviating pain and restoring normal life are related to the harmonious development of society. Therefore, after careful discussion and research, the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait decided to sign the Agreement on Cross-Strait Red Cross Organizations' Participation in Post-Wenchuan Earthquake Reconstruction in Yingxiu Town, which was once the epicenter of Wenchuan Earthquake. The signing of this agreement marks the official start of the post-earthquake reconstruction work of the Red Cross Society of Taiwan Province Province, and also shows the determination and will of the Red Cross Society to actively participate in the post-earthquake reconstruction of Wenchuan. At the same time, it also indicates that the reconstruction work of the China Red Cross in the disaster area is progressing in an orderly manner.

Disaster preparedness and relief work is the traditional work of the Red Cross, and it is also the top priority. In all previous major domestic natural disasters, the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Straits actively supported and cooperated with each other, which fully reflected the deep feelings of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits that blood is thicker than water. Through the joint efforts of the Red Cross organizations across the Taiwan Strait, the post-earthquake reconstruction project will be implemented as soon as possible.

The agreements signed by the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait include post-earthquake reconstruction projects in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces, including 44 schools, 43 health centers, 1 rehabilitation centers and Han Mei's aid program, with a total of NT$ 654,380.375 billion.

In response to the national call, the China Red Cross recently purchased 267,000 beds of quilts and 265,000 pieces of cotton-padded clothes for the people in the disaster-stricken areas of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, including nearly/kloc-0.90 million beds of quilts and/kloc-0.30 million pieces of cotton-padded clothes in Sichuan, with a value of nearly 30 million yuan. The Red Cross Society of Taiwan Province Province also donated 2,400 quilts.

It is reported that the post-disaster reconstruction work of China Red Cross Society has been fully launched. As of 10, the Red Cross Society of China has signed memorandums or agreements with Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces to assist in post-disaster recovery and reconstruction projects. Among them, the total amount of planned assistance to the first-phase project in Sichuan is 2.5 billion yuan, and the amount of project assistance has been determined to be165438+800 million yuan, which will help build 196 families and schools in six cities (states) including Chengdu, Mianyang, Deyang, Aba, Ya 'an and Guangyuan. The total amount of planned assistance to Gansu projects is 563 million yuan. At present, the amount of project assistance has been determined to be nearly 3 1 10,000 yuan, and 9,806 houses, 65 schools, 79 health centers, 68 health stations, 66 villagers' activity rooms and disaster preparedness centers have been built in three cities (states) such as Longnan, Gannan and Tianshui. The total amount of aid projects in Shaanxi has been planned and determined to be 400 million yuan, and 13244 houses, 68 schools, 75 health centers, 132 health stations, 1 villagers' activity room and 1 drinking water project will be built in Hanzhong, Ankang and Baoji. At present, it is confirmed that the funds for post-disaster recovery and reconstruction projects in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces have been allocated to the disaster-stricken areas, and 39,467 houses, 329 schools, 344 health centers, 83 health stations, 97 villagers' activity rooms, town drinking water projects and disaster preparedness warehouses have been built. With the cooperation of relevant departments of the local government, these reconstruction projects have started one after another. Some victims' houses have been completed, and the victims have moved into spacious new homes. In addition, local Red Cross Societies at all levels are also actively participating in and implementing post-disaster recovery and reconstruction projects to help Wenchuan earthquake-stricken areas.
