Wu Douxing

The range of folk beliefs is very wide, including the worship of nature and the worship of gods, but the worship of gods is the main one. In the aspect of nature worship, the objects of worship are Shantougong, Shitougong and Shutougong. In the worship of gods, the objects of worship are not only national gods, but also gods with local characteristics. Tongan's folk beliefs are a world of gods, including orthodox beliefs such as Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, as well as countless local folk beliefs. There is a saying in Tongan that "go up the mountain and worship the bodhisattva, and worship the Lord in the corner", and all kinds of shinto are hard to count. Tongans have great confidence and respect for the gods they worship. In addition to building magnificent temples and palaces in urban and rural areas and streets, it is also widely used for naming place names.

Chaoyuanguan and Chaoyuan village

Chaoyuanguan, located in Xiaoximen, Datong Street, was founded in the Tang Dynasty. In the second year of Song Jiaxi (l238), Qiongzhou Anfu made Xie Tunan expand his army. In the 14th year of Yuan Dynasty (1354), it was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt, expanded and rebuilt many times during the Ming Dynasty and the Republic of China and after liberation. The Lord worships the Jade Emperor and the Jade God in the temple. The Jade Emperor is the highest god in Tongan folk beliefs, just as Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio says, "There is a Jade Emperor in the sky and an Emperor on the ground". The Jade Emperor is the supreme god, known as the wise jade emperor who is in charge of the three realms and ten squares, and is the real emperor of the ghost world. Tongan people trust and respect the Jade Emperor God very much, and think that it has human feelings, and is called "God in the sky" and "God in the sky". In order to show respect and pray for blessings, the conceptual names of Chao Yuanguan became village names and place names.

Dongyuegong and Yuekou village

Dongyue Palace, located on the south side of Huancheng East Road in Datong Street, was built by Xue Lingzhi in Tang Dynasty. It has three main halls, namely, the front hall, the middle hall and the back hall, dedicated to the Emperor Rensheng of Dongyue. In ancient China, there were five mountains in the four seas, that is, Mount Taishan in Dongyue, Hengshan in Nanyue, Huashan in Xiyue, Hengshan in Beiyue and Songshan in Zhongyue. Taoism believes that all the five mountains are inhabited by immortals. Dongyue is the king of Tianqi, Nanyue is the king of Si, Xiyue is the king of Jin, Beiyue is the king of An, and Zhongyue is the king of Zhong. Tongan folk only worship Mount Tai in Dongyue, calling it Rensheng Emperor, Dongyue Emperor or Yue Emperor. It is said that this god is not only the deacon of human fortune disaster, but also the god of the underworld. Therefore, it won the special admiration of the people. The people not only built a palace to worship, but also named the village Yuekou, which is the only place where the county town passes through Dongyue Palace.

Sanzhong Palace and Sanzhong Village

The former Sanzhong Palace, located in Sanzhong Village, Tang Hong Town, was built in the Ming Dynasty and dedicated to the King of Sanzhong. In March (1276), the Yuan Army captured Lin 'an (now Hangzhou), the last year of the Southern Song Dynasty. Wen Tianxiang fought Yuan in Jiangxi and was defeated and captured. Lu Xiufu and Zhang Shijie fled south. After entering Fujian, they avoided the pursuit of Yuan soldiers, entered Tongan along Xiaoyingling Post Road, and settled in Sankui Mountain area. Tongan people admire the loyalty of loyal ministers, so they built a palace in the station to honor them, named Sanzhong Palace, which honors three loyal ministers, Wen, Lu and Zhang. Wen Tianxiang didn't arrive in Tongan, but the people were moved by his loyalty, so they gathered three people to worship, collectively known as the King of Three Loyalties. Triple palace village is also named after the palace.

Bixi Temple and Bixi Road

The tourmaline hall (Longhu Palace) located in Bian Xi Street of Datong Street was built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1522- 1566), and its gate was rebuilt and added in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty (1736- 1795). In the temple, the Lord worships the emperor Bao Sheng. Emperor Baosheng Wu Ben was a self-taught folk holy doctor in Bai Jiao Village, Li Jishan, Tongan County in Song Dynasty. He is good at pulse diagnosis, acupuncture and prescription medicine, giving medicine all his life, and pouring money to help the hungry several times, saving countless lives. According to legend, he went to Beijing to expose the empire, cured Song Renzong's mother's breast disease, and was named an imperial doctor. During the Southern Song Dynasty (1165-1173), Bai Jiao Tzu Chi Palace was built for worship. Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty made it the most holy and boundless emperor. The patron saint of Bixi Temple comes from the official spirit of Tzu Chi in Bai Jiao. Bixi Road in front of Bixi Temple is named after the temple in order to pray for environmental protection.

HouLv Gong and HouLv Gong Lane

Houlu Palace, located in Houlu Street, Datong Street, was built in the Ming Dynasty and later destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1994. It is said that the prince's surname is Chi Mingran (the list name is Decheng), and the word is Yingchun. A native of Nanjing (Yingtianfu) in Ming Dynasty. He was a warrior in the third year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1575). On the way to Zhangzhou, I passed Xiaoyingling in Tongan. When you meet the orders of the gods, you will go to Zhangzhou and Quanfu to drop off. Chiran swallowed poisonous beans and died in Maxiang. The local people felt his virtue and worshipped him as the "Chief Patrol King". Houlugong is the branch furnace of Weiyuan Hall, and the proper name of Houlugong Lane.

Tongan folk beliefs have strong local characteristics and are part of Tongan cultural heritage. Place names named after folk beliefs fully reflect this local characteristic.
