How to slim down the system? prospect
Windows Vista takes up a lot of system resources. The following methods can help us reduce the hard disk space occupied by Vista.

C:\ Windows \ Web \ wallpaper

Contains wallpaper that comes with Windows and can be deleted or transferred to other disks (45.5M).

c:\ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ file repository

This folder is a backup of the Window driver, which is generally unnecessary and can be deleted (1.03G).

Of course, if you want to delete this folder directly, the system will prompt you that you don't have permission, so we need to get this permission. First, right-click C: \ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ File Repository-Properties. First, we will take ownership of the folder, click Security-Advanced-Owner, then click Edit-Advanced Other Users or Groups, and enter your user name in the selected object name, or click Advanced-Search Now, select your user name and confirm. Then choose to replace the child container and the owner of the object. If this option is not selected, we only have the ownership of this folder, but not its subfolders and files inside, and then apply -OK, so that we have the ownership of this folder, because the ownership of this folder used to belong to the system, not ours. Click Permission-Edit-Add again, fill in your user name or use Advanced-Search Now, confirm, then click User Name-Edit, check the "Full Control/Allow" box, and then check the box to replace the existing inheritable permissions on all descendants with permissions that can be inherited from this object (I depend on Microsoft, it's so fucking complicated that it can be applied to all subfolders and files in one sentence). As before, this is not checked. Ok, you can delete the folders in it at will.

C:\Boot

This is a Windows startup interface in different languages, which can be deleted except zh-CN. If you delete it directly, you will be prompted that you do not have permission. Method as above (13.3M).

C:\perflogs\System\Diagnostics

This is the storage location of the test record file after you test the Windows Vista system. It is stored in a folder according to different dates, and can be deleted if it is not needed (9.39M).

C:\ Windows \ downloaded installation

There are some programs (Dreamweaver. ) When installing, the installation files will be extracted to this folder and can be deleted.

C:\Windows\Help

Needless to say, the help file can be deleted. I suggest to keep it for the time being, because I am not familiar with this VISTA, and sometimes it is a bit useful (105M).

C:\Windows\IME

Input method file, it is not clear which folder corresponds to which input method (136M).

C:\Windows\Installer

If you are sure that you don't need to uninstall the installed program after installation, you can delete it, otherwise it may not be deleted in the future (but it can also be deleted after reinstallation), so delete it, depending on the number of installed programs, ranging from tens to hundreds of meters.

C:\Windows\winsxs

The total size of this folder is about 3-4G, and it should contain system files. I don't know the specific purpose.

C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup

There are some backup files that can be deleted (353M).

C:\ProgramData

Some programs will put some files in when they are installed to see if they need to be deleted. For example, after I install iTunes, the folder C: \ Program Data \ Apple Computer \ Installer Cache \ iTunes 7.0.2.16 will appear, which is actually an installation file and can be deleted. But some files are needed when the software is running and can be deleted at will.

C:\ User \ Public

All users' public folders contain some sample pictures and videos, which can be deleted (2 17M), in which c: \ users \ public \ recorded TV \ sample media is a sample TV recording file of Windows Media Center (143M), and c: \ users \ public \ music \ sample music is sample music.

C: \ users \ public \ pictures \ sample pictures are sample pictures (4.7M), and C:\Users\Public\Videos are sample videos (9.6M).

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper(45M)

c:\ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ file repository( 1030m)

C:\Windows\Help( 105M)

C:\ User \ Public (2 17M)

Delete these four, 1397M! Plus some other things, as long as you save 2G space, then transfer the user files to other disks and take the page files to other disks, the C disk will not exceed 5G.

The next page is the previous slimming skills (for reference)

Vista system occupies huge hard disk space after installation, and the folder space after initial installation is:

Build 2.12 GB (2,281,192,634 bytes)

Installed repository177 MB (186,577,063 bytes)

Packet 510 MB (535,020,852 bytes)

Program file 628 MB (659,145,925 bytes)

user

Windows 4.8 1 GB (5, 172, 100, 125 bytes)

Test the operation in Vista system

1. Delete the InstalledRepository folder directly (177MB) successfully.

2. Delete the package folder directly (5 10MB). Success.

3. Delete the build folder (2. 12GB) directly, which means it cannot be deleted. Select Skip All, leaving 274M files after deletion.

Then the system was tested and everything was normal.

This operation successfully reduced the weight of Vista by 2.5G
