The basis of rock climbing is to step on your feet and keep your balance. Good pedaling ability can reduce the dependence on arm strength and hand strength, and also help to maintain body balance. Because leg muscles are stronger than arm muscles. So legs are more suitable for supporting the weight of the body, which is why we emphasize climbing with our feet.
Choose a footpoint with a moderate distance. Being closer to the foot point is more labor-saving than being higher, and it is easier to keep balance. However, if you take every step very close, the progress will be slow.
Standing up straight helps to shift the body's center of gravity to the feet, and at the same time makes the feet walk more stably. When a novice climber climbs, he often leans his whole body against the rock wall. This kind of behavior is very likely to make his foot slip off the rock wall, because the direction of force becomes outward, not downward.
On the rock wall, try to climb one foot after another, just like taking stairs, with both hands just for balance. When you want to lift your foot to the next foot point, keep your eyes on the foot point and step down quickly and accurately, once in place. After stepping on the foothold, the positions of other hands and feet remain the same, move the hips, slowly shift the center of gravity to the new foothold, and finally use the leg muscles to stand up and complete the action.
Four, keep three contact with the rock wall.
When you are learning rock climbing, be sure to keep three points of your limbs on the rock wall. This can be done with one hand and one foot, or with one hand and two feet. Before a removed point is put on a new point, the other three points should be balanced. This method is especially useful when testing whether the rock is loose, because when you test the novice point, the other three points have been steadily balanced.
Pay attention to the fact that the center of gravity is directly on the feet. When moving to a new foot point or hand point, move the center of gravity first, and then transfer the weight after the body is balanced.
When climbing is difficult, it is impossible to keep three points in contact with the rock wall all the time, because there may be only one or two relatively stable rock points, which need to be skillfully balanced by selfish body. No matter how many points the body touches the rock wall, the principle of maintaining balance is the same: put the weight on the rock.
Five, pay attention to loose rocks
When climbing a mountain, you can see loose rocks everywhere. Many loose rock spots are obvious, but you should be especially careful of those that are not obvious. Pay attention to observe whether there is a fracture line, and you can pat or nudge the suspicious rock point with your hand. If the rock is loose, it will make a hollow sound.
