The basic movements of rumba dance

What is rumba's footwork? Feet, feet flat? (The ball is flat). The basic action, it always has six steps, from the position of a person's foot:

Step 1: Left foot forward (LF fwd) and toes outward (T outward).

Step 2: RF of the right foot is in place, and the center of gravity moves to the right foot.

Step 3: Turn your left foot to the side and gently backward.

Step 4: Retract your right foot (RF back).

Step 5: Put your left foot in position (LF in position) and shift your center of gravity to your left foot.

Step 6: RF to one side and move forward slightly.

These are the steps of men. Its first, second and third steps are women's fourth, fifth and sixth steps, while its fourth, fifth and sixth steps are women's first, second and third steps.

Foot movements also include knee and hip movements. When the left foot moves forward, the knee relaxes. When the center of gravity reaches the left foot, the knee straightens, while the hip obediently moves to the left, and then the right knee relaxes slightly. When the center of gravity moves back to the right foot, the right knee is straight, and the buttocks move obediently to the right, at which time the left knee is slightly relaxed; When the center of gravity moves laterally to the left foot, the left knee is straight, the left hip moves to the left, and the right knee is slightly relaxed. In addition, when the foot moves forward, the instep is lifted first, and some toes are squeezed into the floor, then the sole of the foot is kept squeezed into the floor, and the heel is put down before the whole foot touches the ground; When moving backwards, first move the soles of your feet, then the toes. When the center of gravity is completely shifted, the heel is lowered, so that the heel of the non-central foot naturally leaves the ground.

In addition, the grip of rumba, cha-cha and samba is the same. The distance between partners is about 15 cm, and the female strategy is on the right side of the man. The man's right hand is placed behind the woman's back, covering the lower part of the left shoulder spleen bone, and the right arm forms a supple arc, and the elbow is about the height of the chest. The lady's left arm is gently placed on the man's right arm, and along its arc, the lady's left hand is gently placed on the man's right shoulder.

A man's left arm keeps a supple arc, which is approximately symmetrical with his right arm, but his left forearm must be held high. The left hand is perpendicular to the wrist, about as high as the nose. The lady's right hand is gently held in the left hand by the man. A man's left hand and a woman's right hand must be kept in the center of both bodies.

The dancing skills of rumba

Latin dance is a dance of two people, so the cooperation between them is very important, while rumba dance has a slower rhythm, but requires more details of body movements, and the transmission of arm strength between them is more important.

You should keep your center of gravity stable and don't use your arms.

In Latin dance, everyone should have their own stable center of gravity, and the lead between them is only a small physical strength. When the body rotates, the axis around it is always the spine. When rumba, the shoulders sink, the center of gravity of the feet goes down the steps, lowering the center of gravity, while the spine goes up to maintain the internal balance of the body. At this time, we should tighten the inner thighs, buttocks, abdomen and side waist, so that the twisting of the body will not transfer a lot of strength to the arms, thus affecting the partner's center of gravity.

Don't move your elbow behind your body, but clip it to your side at most.

When dancing rumba, the woman will hold her right arm and tighten her muscles. If the man gives the woman a backward thrust, the whole body should move backwards instead of swinging the elbow backwards. The backward speed of the woman's body is faster than the force transmission speed of the arm to stabilize the center of gravity of the man's body when he stops pushing. Similarly, men don't need to tighten their arms when receiving thrust, but they can move their elbows forward slightly when giving women strength.

If the man gives the woman a lateral force, the woman's arm can't swing from side to side, which will reduce the force, but the angle between the big arm and the body should be kept, and the body will rotate quickly and smoothly.

When a man exerts force on a woman, he should avoid exerting force only with his hands. Instead, his spine should rotate slightly in the direction of exerting force on a woman, and his body should be squeezed to make his arm have a little strength. The level of his forearm and the ground should remain the same, but the strength should gradually decrease along the shoulder-arm-forearm-hand.
