Nanpu Island is located in the central area at the junction of the old city of Guangzhou and Panyu District. It is located in the northwest of Panyu District and southwest of Luopu Street, surrounded by water. It borders Liwan District and Haizhu District in the north, Shajiao Island in Panyu District in the east, Sanshan New Town in Nanhai District of Foshan City in the west and Dashi Street in Panyu District in the south. Villages under the jurisdiction of the whole island are Dongxiang, Yi Xi, Yi Xi, Xisan and Orange Tree. Community committees include Hailongwan, guangzhou country garden, Lijiang Garden, Seaside Garden and Jinxiu Peninsula.
Nanpu Island is dominated by alluvial plains, with fertile land and rich products. Local farmers mainly grow cash crops, oranges and flowers. The traditional native products of Dashi, such as arrows, horseshoes and rushes, are mainly planted on the island.
