Century Bridge is not only a key construction project in Hainan Province, but also a landmark building in Haikou City. Haikou Road and Bridge Construction Management Company is responsible for the construction.
The bridge started on May 29th, 1998, and was completed and opened to traffic on August 20th, 2003.
The total investment is 666 million yuan, of which 50 million dollars is borrowed from Japanese funds and 250 million yuan is provided by the municipal finance.
The construction of Haikou Century Bridge adopts international bidding management according to FIDIC terms, and the project supervision adopts domestic bidding.

Century Bridge is located on the north extension line of Longkun North Road in Haikou City, crossing the Haidian River into the sea. The total length of the bridge is 2683.585 meters, of which the main bridge is 636.60 meters long. The main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with two towers, two cable planes and three spans and continuous prestressed concrete side beams. The main tower is rhombic, with a tower height of 106.9 meters. The twin towers bear the bridge deck through 176 stay cables. The main bridge deck is 29.8 meters wide, with sidewalks on both sides and six lanes in both directions. The maximum water level under the main bridge is 24 meters, which can pass 3000-ton ships.
Century Bridge is the largest bridge project with the highest technical content and the most difficult construction in Hainan, among which the technical content and construction difficulty are among the best among similar bridges in China. The bridge started construction on May 29th, 1998, which took five years to complete with a total investment of 667 million yuan.
Haikou Century Bridge, like a Wolong across the Haidian River, has become an important tourist landscape and city landmark in Haikou because of its complete functions and novel shape.

Century Bridge is 2663.606 meters long, of which the main bridge is 636.60 meters long. The main bridge is a three-span (147+340+ 147) continuous prestressed concrete side beam cable-stayed bridge with twin towers and double cable planes. The bridge deck is 29.8 meters wide with sidewalks on both sides. The main tower is rhombic, with a tower height of106.9m. The foundation of the main tower is a round-ended open caisson, with an upper mouth area of 29.8m× 18.6m, a lower mouth area of 30.4m× 19.2m and a depth of 40.1m.. There are 22 stay cables on each side, totaling 65,438. The approach bridge is prestressed concrete continuous box girder, and the foundation is prestressed high-strength concrete pipe pile. South approach bridge length 1 10 1.094m, connecting section 233.867m: North approach bridge length 524.45m, North approach road167.595m, approach bridge width 24.3m, and no sidewalks on both sides. The bridge deck is two-way and six-lane, with the designed driving speed of 60 km/h. When the main span is 4 meters below the highest water level, the net navigation height is 24 meters. There are four towers at each end of the main bridge, and bridgehead squares are set up on the north and south banks.
