First, the breath of singing
We usually use natural breathing in our daily life, which is too shallow to sing. Singing breathing is a deep abdominal breathing method, that is, the breath should be sucked around the waist, and then the confrontation between expiratory muscle and inspiratory muscle is used to find the fulcrum of force. Always keep this state when singing, and the voice is completely controlled by the breath. This is what people call "sound * air transmission".
Here are some effective ways to practice breathing.
1. inhalation
Imagine yourself in a beautiful garden and want to smell the exotic flowers deeply-this is the inhalation of singing, which makes you inhale deeply. After inhaling, hold it for a short time as before sneezing, and experience the swelling around the waist. Finding this feeling is the key to singing.

The way to exhale is to use the strength of diaphragm to keep the feeling of waist expansion. Exhale evenly and slowly. You can prepare a piece of tissue paper with the size of 10 square centimeter, stick it on the wall, 4-6 centimeters away from it, and blow it with your mouth to prevent it from falling to the ground. It takes more than half a minute to pass. You can also change it into a burning candle and make a "U" sound to the flame, which is correct.
Breathing is a flame that falls but does not go out.
3. How to train the strength of diaphragm
The strength of diaphragm is very important for the maintenance of breath and the strength of sound. Traditional training methods are:
(1). Count: Take a deep breath and hold it with the strength of your waist. Count from 1 and count to 60 to be qualified. Count evenly and rhythmically, don't steal gas.
(2) Blow: Take a deep breath, and then blow forward as if to blow off the dust on the table, one slow and two fast, and experience the power of the diaphragm.
(3) Do more sit-ups to strengthen the waist and abdomen.
Second, the resonance of singing
After breathing correctly, you can start singing. To make songs mellow and pleasant, we must make use of resonance. The resonance cavities we mainly use in singing are chest cavity, throat, nasal cavity and head cavity. If you want to listen well, you must have some resonance above your chest when singing high, middle and low notes, that is, "the high position of the voice."
1. The basic state of singing
To get a high-pitched position, you must relax your throat and retract your chin. These two organs can't exert their power in singing. Most people sing high notes by squeezing their throats, which is the wrong way to make sounds and can't get a beautiful voice. The larynx should be relaxed to make it a channel for breathing, and then lift the soft palate and smiling muscles (that is, keep smiling) to let the sound reach the nasal cavity.
2. The position of resonance
Generally speaking, when singing, the bass mainly resonates with the chest. After the midrange and treble, the proportion of the high-level resonance cavity gradually increases, with the nasal cavity and the head cavity as the main resonance.
All the above are the basic essentials of singing. All piano friends must practice more. Practice makes perfect before they can sing beautiful and moving songs. In addition, there are many techniques to express the charm of pop songs, such as vibrato, crying, breathing, choking and so on.
At present, science also recognizes that the human body has great potential to be developed. I also talked about some practices and experiences of "innate (internal and external) breathing method" in the first section of chapter 5 of New Theory. But these methods do not belong to the research and training of ordinary vocal music learners, so they are not discussed in depth on the Internet.

I am glad to see that this building was initiated by the host of the lingering sound. I have studied pharyngeal sounds and have some understanding of some viewpoints put forward by Dr. Lin Junqing. Therefore, I also want to use this building to talk about some of my views.
From the perspective of China's traditional philosophy, everything is Artest, and it has two sides, yin and yang, unless it is perfect to approach infinite truth. As far as many vocal music schools are concerned, it is the same. Therefore, how to learn and absorb the advantages and disadvantages of various schools, give up and avoid their own shortcomings, is what we vocal music learners should study and grasp.
First of all, as Yu Yin, Mr. Zhu Meng and friends just mentioned, throat singing does have many advantages. What I understand most is the following:
1, learning "inverted funnel sounding" can effectively help high notes;
2. "Open your mouth" and other exercises can effectively help relax your mouth, tongue and chin, open your throat and hang it in a high position;
3, "Toad Breathing" and other exercises can make the abdominal muscles have a certain elasticity and make the breath reach a certain depth.
4, "bubble sound" and other exercises can treat vocal cord diseases caused by incorrect pronunciation and restore voice health.
Therefore, in the section of "Sound-gas combination when breath acts on the sound tube" in New Theory, I talked about the vocal method of "inverted funnel tube on the sound tube" in throat singing. In addition, I often refer to the principles and methods of "open your mouth" and "toad breathing" when practicing "humming at a high position" and "deep breathing in the opposite direction" when conducting specific vocal coaching.
Secondly, I think there are two main problems worth discussing in throat singing:
1, "inverted funnel tube vocalization" is the characteristic of throat singing. But it, like the tenor piccolo, is only a part of human musical instruments, so it is still incomplete and needs to be supplemented and improved.
From the research of New Theory, we should also add the methods of "acoustic pipeline under the funnel" and "all-acoustic pipeline facing the funnel", so that the theory of "the combination of sound, gas and acoustic pipeline" can be considered complete (attached). In the actual singing, mysterious guests, Sakura Rain and other friends have also realized the actual existence of the "sound tube under the funnel" and its real sound effect.
2. The breath application method of throat singing is still the diaphragm-controlled breathing method. This method has certain historical significance and value, but with the development of vocal art, especially after the "sighing singing method" was put forward, compared with the "diaphragm control breath method", it seems shallow and rootless, the voice is not smooth enough, and the singing is not natural enough.
Therefore, more and more people in the industry and professional colleges began to study and discuss "sighing singing". "New Theory" further questioned the "diaphragm controlled breathing method" and directly put forward the viewpoint of "sticking, sighing and supporting-acoustic gas field adjustment method" instead. I believe that mysterious guests, Sakura Rain and other friends have also realized the actual connotation and effect of this view. Therefore, I think "changing the way of using breath" is also a problem that friends who learn throat singing should consider. In fact, as long as you practice "Toad Breath" well, you can effectively change the way you use the breath of pharyngeal sounds by changing your abdomen into a sigh and landing, so that your breath is deeper and your voice is more rooted.
In short, vocal music training has certain specific sound effect standards. I think we should jump out of the dispute between different schools, try our best to discover and learn the advantages of each school on the basis of the original achievements of throat singing, and strive to realize the scientific vocal method of "loose and bright, easy to switch, easy to receive, strong in penetration, strong in appeal, easy to sing, natural and resistant to singing" as soon as possible.

If you sing, you can make beautiful songs as long as you add sound waves dominated by falsetto to the combination of breath and pipeline. Some famous foreign sopranos in Bel Canto sing with this principle. So: 1, the singer "sings gas" instead of voice; It seems that the singer's voice is not sung directly from the throat, but is "blown" by the air in the vocal tract.
In my opinion, there are two kinds of vocal tract: dominant and recessive, and the breath used is the mixed vitality of the weather and the day after tomorrow. The specific combination method is as follows:
1, acoustic gas knot method of head channel (inverted funnel tube)
In 1950s and 1960s, Lin Junqing, a famous doctor, founded the Shanghai Vocal Music Institute, specializing in studying and teaching the "throat" singing method of the Western Bel Canto School. After that, through the practice and exploration of his students (especially Professor Wang), he successfully combined the singing method of "YanSheng" with the pronunciation, articulation, line cavity and charm of China's songs, giving the singing method of "YanSheng" a new life, making it "foreign things serve China" in China's vocal music.
The way to sing "throat sound" is: (1) relax the jaw muscles and tongue, raise your head and open your mouth, and open your jaw; ⑵. Adjust the oral muscles (epiglottis, tongue root and pharyngeal wall) into a small pharyngeal wall tube with your mind, which is called "inverted funnel tube"; (3) Then, the acoustic gas wave enters the "inverted funnel tube" and produces high overtone resonance in the pharyngeal tube. Its principle is the coordination of breathing, sound waves (false sound waves mixed with real sound components) and pharyngeal wall tubes under the action of ideas [1]. This method has certain characteristics, especially suitable for singing high notes.
Dr. Lin is a doctor who loves vocal music and has profound attainments in vocal music research, so it makes sense to say that the singing method of "pharynx sound" is based on anatomical physiology, that is, the explicit physiological system. Another feature of "pharynx sound" singing is that it has certain curative effect on vocal cord diseases [2]. What is its principle? (1), it focuses on "blowing" the sound tube with "breath" (falsetto) with sound waves, thus reducing the burden of the true vocal cords; (2) It mainly uses the "sound tube" to receive sound and gas waves, thus reducing the burden on the mouth, tongue, chin and throat. Therefore, it has a good effect on relieving laryngeal fatigue and restoring voice.
According to this, we can clearly see that the principle of "throat sound" singing is: the acoustic effect produced by the acoustic gas wave acting on the "inverted funnel tube" in the head. So I think it can also be called: the combination of sound and air in the upper sound tube is the application of the weather in the sound (cavity tube) channel.
Swallow singing is a typical method of using the upper voice (inverted funnel) pipeline. Generally speaking, the singing method of pharynx sound is not emphasized in conventional teaching. In fact, the singing method of hanging a high position, whether in front or behind, as long as it can hang a high position, has actually used the role of the upper sound tube, and has the effect of combining sound and gas with the upper sound tube.
2. Acoustic gas knot method of chest and abdomen low channel (along funnel tube).
We can compare the "inverted funnel tube with upper channel" to the piccolo played by human body, so relatively speaking, there should also be a "funnel tube with lower channel" to play flute, bassoon or horn.
The traditional health preserving theory reveals a "secret of Taoist cultivation" [3]-there is an "empty pipe" between human lungs and Xiadantian (see Figure 6), "which is the passage between lung breathing and Tian Chan, that is, the only way to connect acquired qi with innate qi". That is to say, when people are in the womb, they don't form nose and mouth breathing, but use the innate breath, that is, through this "invisible pipe connecting the lungs and connecting the umbilical cord", they get the innate breath from their mothers. At that time, the upper body and the lower body were connected together, and the whole body was closely connected without any gap. However, as soon as he was born, he fell into the day after tomorrow and began to breathe with his lungs. Therefore, once he is blocked by the diaphragm, the acquired breath cannot flow from the upper body to the lower body, and cannot be combined with the innate activities of Xiadantian and even the whole body. So in order to combine the weather before and after, we must find, open and use this trick.
According to the principle of "throat singing", we can also analogously deduce the vocal principle of the invisible "sound-air channel" from the heart to the heel of the human body: (1) taking "idea" as the command, flowing "breath" as the power, "sound wave (mainly falsetto) as the pitch, and the sound channel as an instrument tube or a long horn; (2) Sigh the breath and sound into the tube and drive the weather in the lower body to vibrate and pronounce together. It is not difficult to see that this is the application of mixed vitality in the hidden channel of meridian sound (network).
Attention should be paid to practicing pipeline sound: (1) The lower body must be relaxed, and the third and fourth sound barriers, chest plate, abdomen and vocal tract should be opened to keep the sound and gas pipelines unobstructed. (2) Always grasp the feeling of breath flow. So I often say that "breath is sung", "sound seems to be blown out by breath" and "the louder the sound, the longer the breath will be blown and the greater the push (flow). (3) Master the conversion between "Qi, Wave and Sound (falsetto and true sound)". In this way, combined with the content of "sticking, sighing and falling" mentioned above, a beautiful, soft, smooth and powerful sound can be produced.
3, the whole channel (funnel tube) acoustic gas knot method
It is to use the funnel-shaped channel in the up, down or front and back directions at the same time, which is the comprehensive application of acquired and acquired mixed energy in the hidden channel at the same time. (See illustration 7)
Practicing inverted funnel sound in the upper channel is like "building a tall building" frequently, because attention is focused on it, and the traditional method of controlling breath with diaphragm can't get down and lose balance. Therefore, the sound is easy to float and become a "castle in the air."
Practicing the sound along the funnel is like "digging the foundation" Gai Lou. The breath may be put down, but it is easy to forget the high position of the note and lose balance. Therefore, it is incomplete to "only dig the foundation without building tall buildings".
Only when the scheme of building a tall building (hanging position) is determined first, and then the foundation is dug (the lower passage sighs along the funnel pipe), can the tall building rise from the ground (sound and gas react on the upper passage funnel pipe), which is perfect. And the deeper the foundation is dug, the higher the building can be built; The deeper the sound of the lower channel, the higher the position of the upper channel, the stronger the sound field resonance and the more beautiful the sound. Therefore, we should seriously study the situation and function of the combination of acoustic gas and inverted funnel pipe and make use of it.
In the practice of full-channel vocalization, in addition to the above-mentioned precautions for the upper and lower channels, we should also pay attention to the following points: (1) The funnel mouth of the upper tube is at the junction of the soft palate and the pharyngeal wall, and the lower funnel mouth is at the abdominal mouth in the heart socket. In fact, there is a short passage from the larynx to the heart socket between the two pipes. That is to say, if you want to connect the upper and lower channels, you must pay attention to the fact that the fundamental sound waves emitted by the vocal cords will pass through this short channel and be directly sent to the mouths of the upper and lower channels. (2) The short passage from the larynx to the heart socket can also be ignored when vocalizing, but there is nothing between the two funnels (mouth, throat and upper chest), and the fundamental sound waves will directly enter the upper and lower pipes. (3), or "no holes are blown at both ends", you can ignore the space between the two funnels and "blow" the sound directly from the upper and lower funnels. (4) Then, according to the content of singing, adjust the length of the sounding tube, the ratio of breath to falsetto and true voice, and the timbre and pitch.
In a word, the traditional culture of China pays attention to "entirety" and "balance", so in the case of practicing the upper and lower channels, we should pay more attention to the practice and application of the whole channel, because this is the premise of obtaining the acoustic effect of the whole body Tai Chi acoustic resonance field.
To sum up, both breathing practice, breath control and maintenance practice, and the practice of combining sound and breath should be natural and unpretentious; In the practice of breath use, we should pay great attention to the use of ideas. A real singer should first emphasize "meaning", followed by "qi" and finally "sound". Because breath is the life of vocal music, we should pay special attention to explore and study the application of breath in vocal music with the theory of "three gases".
