The four famous Taoist mountains in China are the four most important Taoist holy places in China, namely: Wudang Mountain in Shiyan, Hubei; Longhushan, Yingtan, Jiangxi; Yun Qi in Huangshan, Anhui; Qingcheng Mountain and Wudang Mountain, located in Dujiangyan, Sichuan, are the most famous, and their ancient buildings were rated as world cultural heritage on 1994. In 2000, Qingcheng Mountain and Dujiangyan were awarded the dual heritage of world culture and nature.
Wudang Mountain, Hubei Province
Wudang Mountain, also known as Taihe Mountain, is located in danjiangkou city, northwest Hubei. It is a famous Taoist mountain in China, ranking first among the "Four Famous Taoist Mountains" in China, and also the birthplace of Wudang Wushu. The elevation of Zixiao Peak, the main peak, is1612m. Wudang Mountain is unique and magnificent. There are 72 peaks, 36 rocks, 24 streams, 3 pools and 9 springs, which constitute a beautiful picture of "72 peaks facing the top and 24 streams flowing forever". There are more than 20,000 Taoist temples on the mountain, and Taoist temples with large scale, exquisite architecture and rich cultural relics have been included in the World Heritage List. The main scenic spots on the mountain include Jin Dian, Zixiao Palace, Yuzhen Palace, Fuzhen Temple and Tianyi Zhenqing Palace.
Qingchengshan, Sichuan
Qingcheng Mountain, called Zhang Ren in ancient times, is also called Chicheng Mountain. It is located in the southwest of Dujiangyan 15km, with an altitude of1600 m. Its 36 peaks, such as verdant city walls, are named Qingcheng Mountain. Here, with trees and colorful peaks, it has the reputation of "Qingcheng Mountain is quiet in the world". Qingcheng is one of the cradles of Taoism in China. According to legend, Zhang Daoling (Zhang Tianshi) in the Eastern Han Dynasty once founded Wudou Mi Dao here. Therefore, there are many temples in the past dynasties, and there are still 38. There are the famous Fu Jian Palace, Shi Tian Cave and Shangqing Official. And there are scenic spots such as Jingyu Pavilion, Natural Pavilion and Ningcui Bridge.
Longhushan, Jiangxi
Longhu Mountain, located 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, is a national scenic spot. The Taoist culture with a long history, the unique Bishui Danshan, and the cliff tomb with the longest history, the largest scale and the most unearthed cultural relics today constitute the "three wonders" of the natural and human landscape here. The famous scenic spots of Longhu Mountain include Tianshifu, Shanghai Customs Clearance, Longhu Mountain, Hanging Coffin Site, Xianshuiyan and so on.
Qiyunshan, Anhui
Yun Qi, also known as Baiyue Mountain, is located in Huizhou Basin, at the foot of Huangshan Mountain, 33 kilometers west of Tunxi. Anhui-jiangxi railway passed at the foot of Yun Qi Mountain, and was named Yun Qi Mountain because of "a stone inserted into the sky and integrated with the cloud". It is a mountain scenic spot featuring Taoist culture and Danxia landform. Known in history as "Huangshan Mountain is the best in South China", it is a national key scenic spot. Mount Yun Qi is 585 meters above sea level. There are 36 strange peaks, 72 strange rocks and 24 flying streams. Together with rivers, lakes, springs, ponds and waterfalls in China, it forms a beautiful natural picture. Baiyue is characterized by strange peaks, mostly conical. Seen from a distance, the round hills with different faces are unique. The main landscapes are: Cave Paradise, Xian Zhen Cave Cave, Yuehua Street, Tai Su Palace, Xianglufeng, Xiaohutian, Tai Su Palace in Tian Xuan, Yuxu Palace, Fang La Village, Greeny and Yunyan Lake. Yun Qi Mountain is dotted with inscriptions and stone carvings, and is known as "the first famous mountain in the south of the Yangtze River". Taoism in this mountain began in the first year of the Tang Dynasty (758-760 AD) and became one of the four famous Taoist mountains in China in the Ming Dynasty.
