I read the book Bai Letian's World (written by Ding Yahong, Phoenix Publishing House, 20 17) and wrote about Bai Juyi's health preservation, which was very interesting. The simple record is as follows:

Get up in the morning and stumble, burn incense and meditate, and read Buddhist and Taoist classics. "Knocking your teeth" is a regimen of knocking your upper and lower teeth together. In Bao Pu Zi written by Ge Hong in Jin Dynasty, there is a passage describing that "a person who knocks his teeth three hundred times in the morning will never waver" (Volume III of Inner Chapter). Then it refers to meditation, which is the practice of Buddhism and the understanding of Zen teachings.

Bai Juyi wrote a poem about health preservation:

Wash your comb at sunrise and shake your clothes into the Dojo. Eating when the sun is high is not good.

Take off the towel hairpin at noon and get out of bed by the window. On the west side of the sun, take a walk and swim in the forest pond.

If you don't eat for a long time, sometimes you have to wait. At five o'clock a day, the work and rest rate remains the same.

Right and wrong are inconsistent, and life experiences are forgotten. Silence, no thoughts, only a furnace of incense.

Fine and thick, and full of intestines. The breeze is coming, and lying down will make Emperor Xi uneasy.

Or have a cup of tea, or recite a poem. Why send a leisurely night, a song of autumn clothes.

Be complacent about being old and healthy, and never be too busy. If you ask why, this is not my hometown.

It's really enviable. "You have to ask what this is, this is not my hometown." Its classic comes from "Zhuangzi's Happy Travel": "There are big trees today, and it is useless to suffer from them. Why not plant them where there is nothing? "

Bai Juyi's eye-washing meditation at dawn, simple diet in the morning, lunch break at noon, walking at night and listening to songs at night are rich in content, but leisurely and beneficial.

Bai Juyi saw through life and death, so when he was ill:

I have long known that in this world, old age and illness go hand in hand.

I'm going to be seventy years old today, so I'm still ashamed of being late.

This philosophical attitude is rare throughout the ages!

Throughout Bai Juyi's life, meditation seems to be his most important activity at any time of health preservation. In addition, Taoism's "regulating qi" is a way to regulate breathing, which is also absorbed into life by Bai Juyi.

Bai Juyi's regimen is very similar to Su Shi's. After getting up early every day, Su Shi also has to knock his teeth and meditate, and also breathe, then massage Yongquan point, eyes and ears, and finally comb his hair. Then sit still!

The key two people are open-minded, cheerful and open-minded!

In fact, getting up early to massage your teeth and breathe is not bad. I persisted for many years!

But I really can't sit down and meditate!
