Eating and drinking is about to happen.

Diet is a monograph on nutrition written by Yuan Hu Sihui. It was written in the third year of Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1330) and consists of three volumes. The first book is about all kinds of taboos, written by Jubao. The second volume is about all kinds of decoctions, dietotherapy and food poisoning. The third volume is about rice, animals, poultry, fish, fruits, vegetables and materials.

The book is rich in medicinal diet and dietotherapy, paying special attention to the sexual taste and nourishing effect of various drinks, and there are taboos for pregnancy, lactation and drinking. According to the actual dietary needs of healthy people and the dietary standards of normal people, it has formulated a set of dietary hygiene rules. The book also specifically expounds food hygiene, nutritional therapy, and even the prevention and treatment of food poisoning. There are more than twenty appendices with pictures and texts, which is the first complete book on food hygiene and dietotherapy in China and a precious ancient cookbook.

Although this book is called Diet, its contents include medical care, recipes of famous doctors in past dynasties, and various meat and milk foods with Mongolian dietary characteristics. Even the Compendium of Materia Medica written by Li Shizhen, a famous doctor in the Ming Dynasty, quoted the relevant contents in the book. Therefore, Diet is of great significance to the study of traditional Chinese medicine and the history of Mongolian medicine science and technology.
