Huayang town's local specialty
Speaking of the delicious food in Huayang, Yangxian County, the aborigines here will bring you another surprise, a gift belonging to nature. In ancient times, the local people made a special food-"immortal tofu" from the stems and leaves of a plant called "immortal tree". The scientific name of this "fairy tree" is "twice hibiscus", which belongs to a shrub plant of Hibiscus in Caprifoliaceae. Rub or pound the stems and leaves into paste, add appropriate amount of water, stir well, cover with lotus leaves, and dry in the shade 10-20 minutes. "Immortal Tofu" uses natural plants as raw materials. The method is simple and easy, and no additives are added. The texture is slippery, the entrance is cool and the taste is slightly bitter. It is usually cut into filaments and mixed with spices such as vinegar and Chili oil. The taste is spicy and sour, light and refreshing, which can be described as "only gods, no tofu!" . "Immortal Tofu" originally belonged to the standing food in southern Guangxi and Hunan. Because of Huayang's unique geographical location and historical changes, "Immortal Tofu" settled here.
