Tengchong City is located in the west of Yunnan Province, adjacent to Lushui City in the northeast, Longyang District in the east, Longling County and lianghe county County in the south, Yingjiang County in the west, and Myanmar Union and China in the northwest and north. Geological landform
Tengchong is located where the Eurasian plate collided with the Indian plate, and there was a fierce volcanic movement in geological history. The National Memorial Cemetery is located on the Dieshui River in the southwest of Tengchong County, at the northern foot of Laifeng Mountain. It was built to commemorate the soldiers killed in the battle of conquering Tengchong in the 20th Army of Chinese Expeditionary Force in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. At present, it is the largest and best-preserved memorial cemetery for fallen soldiers in frontal battlefield of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China. There are more than 3,000 soldiers of the Chinese Expeditionary Force and more than a dozen allied officers and men buried here, and almost everyone from China who comes to Tengchong will come here to pay homage to the martyrs.

There are many kinds of wild animals in Tengchong, which is called "the birthplace of the birth and differentiation of mammalian ancestors", "the paradise of pheasants and birds" and "the refuge of primitive animals".
