Beware of low-cost travel traps and investment and financial management traps
When choosing travel agencies and tourism products, elderly consumers should pay special attention to whether there are special clauses for elderly consumers in the contract. If it is found that the travel agency's contract is obviously unreasonable to charge the elderly an age "surcharge" and a high deposit, it must be negotiated with the travel agency in advance and must not be blindly signed.
Recently, Beijing, Guangdong, Henan and other places have successively used the concept of "housing for the elderly" to illegally raise funds or transfer the property of the elderly, and the victims suffered heavy losses. The basic routine of the financial fraud of "providing for the elderly with a house" is to trick the elderly into taking out a mortgage loan with their own house, and then invest the loan money in a high-interest "financial management project" that claims to get 10%- 15% every month, and the elderly hand over the right to dispose of the house to the financial management company. At the beginning, the elderly received corresponding returns every month, but not long after, not only the income and principal could not be returned, but even their own houses were forcibly transferred, leaving the elderly with "empty money". Some media have done incomplete statistics. In Beijing alone, more than 3,000 homeowners have fallen into the trap of housing finance, most of whom are elderly people.
China Consumers Association reminds: It is recommended that elderly consumers actively learn the knowledge of investment and financial management, and make it clear that investment and financial management are different from bank savings deposits, and all kinds of financial products have certain risks. Actively communicate with children, ask them for advice if they don't understand, and pay attention to listening to their opinions. At the same time, invest moderately and spread risks, neither "throwing everything" nor "putting all your eggs in one basket".
Stay away from illegal conference marketing and prevent all kinds of telecom fraud.
At present, some unscrupulous operators pretend to be famous medical research institutes, foundations and trade associations at home and abroad under the bright flags of "Huimin Project", "Government Subsidy" and "Belt and Road", and flaunt their products as major domestic inventions or international scientific and technological leading achievements, thus fooling the elderly into buying their products in large quantities. In fact, these operators often do not have the corresponding business licenses and business licenses and other qualifications, and their products do not have the magical effect of publicity. Old consumers must keep their eyes open, stay away from illegal "marketing" activities such as health lectures, expert interviews, prize-winning lectures, "expert consultation", free physical examinations, intimate experiences, free travel, and adopt various ways to promote products, such as home visits and gifts, family ties, member discounts, consignment sales, and hunger marketing. They don't believe in the "brainwashing" propaganda of merchants, and they are not greedy for small and lose big.
Pretending to be an "old friend" to borrow money for various reasons, or pretending to be a medical staff, saying that children need to pay for surgery when they are hospitalized, falsely winning prizes, and helping the poor ... In recent years, telecom fraud is on the rise, and the elderly have become one of the main victims of telecom fraud because of their weak ability to identify fraud and prevent risks.
China Consumers Association recommends that elderly consumers who use smart phones install the National Anti-Fraud Center APP launched by the public security department, which integrates anti-fraud knowledge, typical cases, fraud warning, reporting clues, reporting assistants and other functions, which can add an extra layer of protection for elderly consumers to prevent telecom fraud.
To buy medicine, we should choose health food through formal channels and find the "police mobile unit"
At present, some unscrupulous operators package fake and shoddy drugs into "magic doctors" and "magic drugs" for sale, fooling the elderly into buying them and illegally profiteering. According to China Consumers Association, all drugs listed in China should be approved by the drug supervision and administration department of the State Council, and only after obtaining the Drug Registration Certificate and approval number can they be listed. Consumers should never buy drugs that have no approval number or can't find the information of national medicine standard number on the website of the State Pharmaceutical Products Administration, so as to avoid being infringed by counterfeit drugs.
China Consumers Association reminds us that health food can't cure diseases, and only the right choice can help health. Before buying health food, the elderly had better go to a regular hospital for physical examination and follow the doctor's advice. In general, each health food has no more than two health functions, and there is no one-size-fits-all health food. When purchasing health food, elderly consumers can look for the special signs and approval numbers of health food of "Police Mobile Force". Police mobile units are not healthy food.
