During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Ruyi, with Ganoderma lucidum as its main shape, was endowed with the meaning of auspiciousness and exorcism, and became a precious thing bearing the good wishes of praying for blessings and eliminating disasters. Ruyi was highly respected in the Qing court, which not only greatly improved its appreciation, but also became a symbol of power and wealth. The Palace Museum has more than 2,000 pieces of Ruyi handles in Ming and Qing Dynasties, which are made of jade, bamboo, metal, tooth bones and porcelain, reflecting the grand occasion of Ming and Qing crafts from one side. This exhibition specially selected 158 pieces (sets) for display, aiming to fully reflect the rich materials, beautiful shapes, exquisite craftsmanship and numerous themes in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
