According to written records, the earliest tea substitute came from Herbal Medicine for Dietotherapy written by Meng Ao in Tang Dynasty, which contained prescriptions for treating toxic dysentery and intractable low back pain.
Historical witness
In the Tang Dynasty, 1400 years ago, the dietotherapy culture of traditional Chinese medicine was popular. Among them, Sun Simiao's Qian Jin Fang Yao and Meng E's Dietotherapy Materia Medica are representative. Traditional Chinese medicine has the knowledge that medicine and food are homologous, and food is also medicine. If used properly, it can effectively solve problems and treat diseases. ?
Meng Wei liked medicine when he was young, and later he studied dietotherapy. It left the world's earliest masterpiece "Dietotherapy Materia Medica", and its theory and efficacy are consistent with modern nutrition.
Meng Wei paid special attention to various taboos in his life and advocated stability and effectiveness. In his later years, in order to cure Tang Ruizong Li Dan's old illness, Zong Rui gave Meng Ao the name of "Meng Yutang", which means "Meng Yu". Although it has been dating for several times, it has been passed down by later generations of Mencius and has been selected as a provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage. Meng Yutang's signature prescriptions "three treasures" and "five prescriptions for rejuvenation" have become classics of traditional Chinese medicine and are still benefiting the people.
