Camellia oleifera production in Guiyang county has a long history. According to reports, Guiyang began to plant tea trees during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, Records of Zhili Prefecture in Guiyang and Biography of Huo Zhi recorded that "from the northeast valley of Lanshan, tea oil was produced at the age of 100,000, with a profit of more than 100,000 yuan". "In Lu Chun, beside Baishui Cave, Tongcha takes thousands of dollars in oil".
In recent years, Guiyang County has taken a series of measures to encourage the development and planting of Camellia oleifera, and the county finance allocates 2 million yuan each year to support the development of Camellia oleifera industry. The county actively explores the development model of "enterprise+farmer+base", establishes two main producing areas in the east and north of Li Antang, radiating the surrounding towns, and forms the construction pattern of "main producing area+radiation area". At the same time, relying on the Camellia oleifera forest base, the county has formed an Camellia oleifera industrial cluster and established the Guiyang Camellia Oleifera Association in the county industrial park through the reasonable layout of Camellia oleifera processing enterprises, which has realized the scale, industrialization and quality of Camellia oleifera industry and better promoted the development of Camellia oleifera industry. At present, there are 10 camellia enterprises in the county, with a total planting area of more than 30,000 mu, involving 6 towns and villages.
