Vegetarian food can purify the blood, prevent constipation and hemorrhoids, beautify and calm the mind. Compared with meat, vegetarianism has many health benefits, but if you are only a vegetarian, you should be careful not to be malnourished. Vegetarianism has existed since ancient times, and it was very popular before Buddhism was introduced to China. In ancient times, vegetarianism was not because the economy was backward and there was no meat to eat. We had to wrap our stomachs with melons and vegetables. However, at that time, the concept of "nourishing, helping, benefiting and supplementing" appeared, and it was advocated that "five grains are nourishing and five fruits are helping".
Being a vegetarian doesn't mean not eating protein and sugar. The beans and complementary foods eaten by monks contain a lot of plant protein, and a lot of starch in rice and flour can make people fat. And many vegetarians around us are aiming at losing weight. Avoid eating more starch, sugar and greasy food while being a vegetarian, so that people have an illusion that being a vegetarian will make them thinner, so that they will not have so much pressure and live a regular life when they become monks. If we add proper martial arts and other fitness activities, our bodies will naturally be strong.
Life is phase, and phase changes from heart. Applying Buddhism to change one's mind can change one's phase. Secularism means that everything is healthy when you are in a good mood. Vegetarian food is the healthiest and most hygienic food, so most of the healthy foods advocated by European and American medicine recently are plant foods, or natural foods. Vegetarians are less likely to suffer from heart disease, diabetes and arteriosclerosis than non-vegetarians.
