Do tigers eat people?
Can people and tigers live in harmony?

A man-eating tiger is frightening, but experts believe that tigers generally don't take the initiative to attack humans. Only under special circumstances will tigers eat people.

Lu Xiangdong, an associate researcher at the Wildlife Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Forestry, said that when people get too close to tigers, tigers feel threatened and will take the initiative to attack and protect themselves. It is difficult to find food in the mountains. When they are not full, tigers will find livestock raised by humans to eat. Of course, it is also very dangerous for people to meet tigers at this time. In addition, tigers have a strong revenge mentality. If you are attacked by humans, you will attack again when you meet humans.

Associate researcher Lu Xiangdong believes that it is not impossible for people and tigers to live in harmony. First of all, human beings should be kind to tigers. The Siberian tiger is now on the verge of extinction, and its critical situation is even more severe than the national treasure giant panda. We should find ways to leave room for the Siberian tiger, such as setting aside nature reserves in areas where the Siberian tiger is active, so that the tiger can recuperate. According to Lu Xiangdong, an associate researcher, the protection of the Siberian tiger still faces serious problems. The Siberian tiger is at the top of the food chain. Although the ecological protection in our province has been restored in recent years, it is still insufficient for tigers. Especially in winter, tigers go to the village to eat cattle and sheep, which shows that it is still difficult for tigers to find food in the mountains. Protecting wildlife resources and restoring ecology, that is, protecting the environment of tiger habitat, is the premise of building a harmonious relationship between man and tiger.

Sun Haiyi, director of the Wildlife Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Forestry, said that in July this year, the State Forestry Administration took the lead in convening an international seminar on the protection of the Northeast Tiger. Experts attending the meeting believe that at present, the Siberian tiger in Changbai Mountain in China is divided into different regions due to road traffic and production activities, showing a trend of fragmentation and islanding. Only in estrus will the male tiger and the female tiger get together to reproduce. After fragmentation and islanding, it is difficult for tigers to get together, which is one of the reasons why the reproduction of China Northeast Tiger is very slow. At present, there is no nature reserve to protect the Siberian tiger in China, and there are human activities in the tiger's activity area, so the protection of the Siberian tiger is difficult and the situation is complicated. In this case, it is necessary to intensify the crackdown on poaching of wild animals, further restore the ecology, and accelerate the establishment of the Northeast Tiger Nature Reserve. When building expressway and railways, we should leave passages for wildlife. Only in this way can the wild Siberian tiger escape the disaster of extinction. In fact, only when the Northeast Tiger "lives and works in peace and contentment" can human life be more peaceful and harmonious.
