There are some precautions for raising turtles in winter:
Winter is the hibernation period of turtles, which is probably11-April. When the temperature is lower than 15 degrees, the tortoise gradually stops eating and begins to enter the hibernation period. Turtles and Brazilian turtles are both water turtles, and they can't leave the water when hibernating. If you leave the water for a long time, the turtle will get sick and dehydrate and die. When entering hibernation, the room temperature should not be too high, and 0-5 degrees is the most suitable, so that turtles will be less active and reduce physical consumption. If the temperature is too high, the tortoise will keep crawling and consume a lot of physical strength, which is not good for the tortoise. The tortoise should be put in a jar with water for the winter. There should not be too much water. Just put the water on the tortoise's back. You can also put a square brick or stone in the jar. Turtles can climb up when they want to bask in the sun. Don't freeze the water with ice, or the tortoise will freeze to death. You can move the turtle tank indoors and put it in a place with 1-2 hours of sunshine, which can sterilize it. As long as this is done, there is generally no problem in winter. Pay attention to keeping the room temperature above zero, so you can spend the winter safely. The real hibernating method is to spread thick wet sand in the container and cover it with newspaper balls. The tortoise will sleep in the sand by itself and replenish water once a week to keep the sand and newspapers moist.
Before hibernating, you should give the tortoise some fat. Starting from September, soft-shelled turtles should be fed twice a day for a month to store enough wintering fat. By June 5438+00, the tortoise stopped eating. Soak the soft-shelled turtle in lukewarm water, stimulate the soft-shelled turtle to defecate with warm water, clean the intestines, and discharge the residual feces in the body to avoid causing intestinal diseases for a long time. If the turtle stops eating for half a year, it will live on these fats. If the soft-shelled turtle is too thin or in poor eating condition, or too small, heat it for the winter, adjust the temperature to 28 degrees, and the soft-shelled turtle will eat normally.
