Gastrodia elata (scientific name: Tianma bl. ), also known as, Lamiophlomis rotata, Mimu, Hedyotis diffusa, Shencao, Bidens bipinnata, Mokpo, Tianmingma, Windward Grass and Bailongpi, is a perennial herb of Gastrodia in Orchidaceae. The rhizomes are stout, without green leaves, and the capsules are obovoid, often propagated by tubers or seeds. Its rhizome is used as medicine to treat dizziness, numbness of limbs, convulsion and other diseases. It is a precious traditional Chinese medicine, which can be used together with Qiongzhen Ganoderma lucidum to treat headache and insomnia.
