"On the Syndrome of Deficiency of Stomach, Cold and Heat, Life and Death and Inverse Pulse" says: "The stomach is the foundation of human beings, while the stomach is strong, the five internal organs are strong." It can be seen that the absorption function of the stomach is the fundamental basis for doctors in past dynasties to highlight and attach importance to the importance of stomach qi in human life activities. It is in this sense that Li Dongyuan put forward that "people take stomach qi as the foundation", pointing out that "those who have stomach qi are also rich in qi, healthy in qi, transported in qi, clear in qi, healthy in qi, and yang in qi" (spleen and stomach weakness leads to nine obstacles), that is, the absorption and decomposition function of stomach qi is the basis for the generation of ying and healthy qi.
Zhang Jiebin said in Spleen and Stomach: "Stomach qi and people are everywhere, that is, the viscera, the sense of sound, the pulse and the body all have stomach qi. Loss of stomach qi is fierce. " Although there is inevitably analogy association here, that is, according to the relationship between stomach qi, diet nutrition and life function, it is considered that the sign of vigorous life function is stomach qi, while the sign of decline of life function is little or no stomach qi. But in most cases, there is an internal relationship between stomach qi and its external signs.
Generally speaking, the concept of stomach qi as the basis of pulse condition has four aspects:
First, the source of pulse qi comes from five internal organs, and the functional activities of five internal organs depend on stomach qi;
Second, the blood gas in the pulse originates from Shui Gu's qi, and the ancestral qi from Shui Gu promotes blood circulation in the pulse;
Third, lung qi is attached to stomach qi, which promotes the circulation of pulse qi;
Fourth, the stomach qi transports the dirty qi in the pulse.
In fact, the problem that pulse is based on stomach qi has been clearly discussed in Huangdi Neijing. First of all, Huangdi Neijing not only thinks that the qi and blood in the pulse originate from the stomach, as Lingshu Jade Edition said: "The person suffering from qi is also the valley. What was injected in the valley is also in the stomach. Stomach, the sea of qi and blood in Shui Gu; Those who walk in the sea are angry, and the world is also; Those with qi and blood in the stomach pass through the tunnel. " "Ling Shu Wu Wei" also said: "The stomach is the sea of five zang-organs, Shui Gu enters the stomach, and all the five zang-organs observe the qi in the stomach ... The valley begins in the stomach, and the subtle begins in the second jiao of the stomach, so as to irrigate the five zang-organs, not to mention the two lines, and run the way of guarding." Based on the physiological understanding that the stomach is the source of qi and blood, the circulation system centered on the stomach is constructed, that is, the circulation mode of the theoretical system of meridians in traditional Chinese medicine: qi and blood operation starts from the lung pulse of the hand Taiyin, and the hand Taiyin pulse does not start from the lung, but "starts from the middle jiao". After the circulation circle formed by the interrelation between the five zang-organs and the twelve meridians, it returns to the lung.
In the above theoretical conception, it is assumed that the power of heart and pulse beating comes from the stomach, which is the force obtained by the digestion and absorption function of the stomach. For example, The Dynamic Biography of Lingshu said: "The stomach is a sea of five internal organs, and its clear qi enters the lungs, and the lung qi moves from the Taiyin, and its behavior is also based on interest. So when people breathe, they move again, breathing endlessly, so they move without stopping ... It's enough for Yangming, so why move? Qi Bo said: Stomach qi enters the lungs ... This stomach qi cannot pass Yangming. " Su Wenping's Theory of Ren Meteorology pointed out more clearly: "The great collateral of the stomach is called internal deficiency, which runs through the collaterals and lungs. Starting from the left chest, its pulse is full of gas. " Apical pulsation is located under the left chest and its dynamic clothing, which is interpreted as the pulsation of the great gastric collaterals. Therefore, although it is the "heart governing blood vessels" in the five elements, it can often be seen that it has a very close relationship with the stomach in the actual pathological interpretation.
Perhaps because of this, "On Collection of Collected Works of Yu Su" points out: "All the five internal organs are full of qi in the stomach. The stomach is the foundation of the five internal organs. Dirty people can't cause the hands to be too yin, but they must be due to stomach qi and even the hands are too yin. " Therefore, the concept that the pulse condition is based on stomach qi has been formed. Interestingly, in early years, some scholars analyzed the hemodynamic indexes such as blood flow energy, oxygen supply capacity and regulation capacity in Cunkou, Angelababy and Zhaoyang, and thought that the "stomach qi" of pulse condition was the ability of blood flow to meet the needs of the whole body and maintain metabolic activities. It can be seen that the formation of the concept that pulse condition is based on stomach qi stems from the understanding that stomach is the source of qi and blood generation and its circulation center, and stomach qi is the power source of heart and pulse beating.
Huangdi Neijing elaborated the relationship between pulse condition and stomach qi in detail, and Su Wenping's Anthropology pointed out: "People are based on water valley, so they will die if they refuse Shui Gu. Pulse without stomach qi leads to death. The so-called people who have no stomach gas actually have hidden veins and can't have stomach gas. " It is also proposed that the level of five internal organs, illness and dead pulse should be judged by the amount of stomach qi. Regarding the signs of stomach-qi in the pulse, On Zhen Cang in the Collected Works of Yu Su pointed out: "The pulse is weak and slippery, which is called stomach-qi." "Lingshu Zhong Shi" thinks: "Evil spirits are also tight and sick, and the grain is also warm." It is clearly recorded in Qing Zhan's "Feng Mi Ji": "The pulse is based on stomach qi. Without stomach qi, it is unfavorable, and if it is unfavorable, it will die."
