What are the characteristics of the appearance, living habits and feeding management of gray birds?
Grey birds are also called grey hibiscus, birds, sparrows, Javanese rice finches and so on. Taxonomically, it belongs to passeriformes, ornithoptera and ornithoptera. Distributed in Malaysia, Indonesia, Sumatra and Java.

Morphology: body length 13 ~ 14 cm, body weight 17 ~ 18 g, the male beak tip is obviously raised, and the eye socket and mouth are dark. The feathers of the whole body are mainly light gray, the feathers on the top of the head and throat are black, there are oval white spots on the cheeks below the eyes, the upper body and chest are silver gray, the lower abdomen and sides are gray, and the tail feathers and wings are nearly black. The exposed part of the orbit is complete and pink. Toes and claws are pink, and the mouth is thick and pink. The peak of the female bird's mouth is straight, and her eyes are pale and notched. The artificially cultivated varieties are white wenbird, colored wenbird (cherry wenbird) and camel wenbird (brown wenbird).

Ecology: Habitat in cities, villages and other places. Often foraging in residents' courtyards and nesting in houses or other buildings. The male bird's call is sharp and long, while the female bird's call is low and short, which is relatively simple. Feed on plant seeds and fruits. And eat a small amount of insects.

Feeding management: easy to feed and can be artificially propagated. Ornamental cages can be canary cages or yellowbird cages, which can be kept separately. Reproduction should be carried out in pairs. Box cages or wire cages can be made by yourself. The size of the cage is 60 cm× 40 cm× 50 cm. An artificial bird's nest made of wood should be placed in the cage, and the reference size is 22 cm× 15 cm× 12 cm. A 4 cm high partition is added in the middle of the nest box, which divides the nest box into two parts, one of which has a circular nest hole with a diameter of 5 cm, and the other has a vent hole. The upper cover and side plates of the nest box can be made movable to facilitate observation of hatching and inspection of eggs. In the breeding cage, a perch pole must be installed near the cage door and the nest box mouth respectively. Once the nest box is installed, it cannot be easily replaced. Ornamental cages should be equipped with 1 perch, 1 water tank and 1 water bath. The feed can be barnyard grass, rice, millet, millet, hemp seed, etc. Gray-eared birds like to eat seeds with shells, especially barnyard grass. Usually, rice (millet), barnyard grass and millet are mixed and fed at the ratio of 6: 3:1. Vegetables should be served daily, oyster shell powder and cuttlefish bones should be given. Add eggs and rice during the breeding period. In winter, perilla frutescens or Fructus Cannabis should be supplemented (the feeding amount should not exceed110 of the total feed, because perilla frutescens and Fructus Cannabis cannot be fed more), which is beneficial to enhance the cold resistance of poultry. The staple food feed and green vegetable feed should be changed in time, generally once a day 1 time, and some can be changed every other day 1 time. Care should be taken to remove the remaining feed shells from the food cans. The water tank is cleaned every day and replaced with clean drinking water. Cages and utensils should be cleaned frequently, and the sand at the bottom of cages should be changed 1 ~ 2 times a week. In winter, heat preservation should be done well, and the indoor temperature should be 20℃. Too low will affect the hatching and brooding of birds. Keep the indoor air fresh. Pay attention to indoor ventilation in summer to prevent direct sunlight. Grey birds like water bath, which can be provided frequently except in winter and early spring. Grey birds begin to lay eggs at 9 ~ 10 in autumn and end in April ~ May of the following year. It can lay eggs for 3 ~ 5 nests continuously, and each nest lays 5 ~ 6 eggs. Therefore, in August and September, birds should be fed estrus feed (egg rice), and nest materials such as cotton, palm shreds and broken hay should be added to the artificial nest. If you find eggs, you should stop the egg-wrapped rice. The third egg begins to hatch as soon as it hatches, and it will be cashed in 7 ~ 8 days to determine whether the egg is fertilized. When testing eggs, wash your hands and dry them, take them out of the nest and look after them in the sun or light. If streaky blood is found in an egg, it is a fertilized egg, an unfertilized egg (white egg) with unchanged color, and a "rotten egg" with black color in the egg. The unfertilized eggs and rotten eggs should be taken out of the nest and destroyed. The incubation period is generally 16 ~ 17 days, and the male and female parents take turns. During the incubation period, the feeding of eggs and rice can be suspended, and the environment should be kept quiet as far as possible to avoid disturbing or peeking at the parent birds, and the cages should not be moved or changed at will. After the chicks are hatched, it is necessary to ensure the supply of eggs, rice, vegetables and oyster shell powder in the parent bird food, so that the chicks can grow well. After about 20 days, the chicks can leave the nest. It will take 1 month for the chicks to grow feathers and gradually leave their parents to live independently. It can also be taken out of the nest for artificial feeding after the chicks hatch for half a month. In the process of brooding, due to the deterioration of instinct, the lack of feed and the fright of a litter of chicks, there may be phenomena of not feeding or abandoning chicks, such as Dachuan. This situation can be replaced by artificial feeding. Stir the cooked egg yolk into porridge with glucose water and feed it with toothpicks. The daily feeding frequency depends on the size of the chicks, and it is 6-8 times a day for 1-7 days, 5-6 times a day for 8- 14 days, and can be reduced to 3-4 times a day after 15 days.
