Compendium of Materia Medica also praises "homology of medicine and food", and thinks that taking medicine to prolong life is better than not taking medicine for health preservation.
There are many contents of dietotherapy in the book, and two items are briefly introduced: one is to drink porridge for health, and the other is to eat beans.
Shizhou healthy
Eating porridge for health has a long tradition in China. In ancient times, porridge was called "Mi". Speaking of porridge, there are related poems in ancient times. Lu You, a poet in the Song Dynasty, wrote the poem Eating Porridge, which was handed down from generation to generation:
Everyone in the world studies all the year round, but doesn't realize that many years are now; I had to follow the popular method and only give porridge to the gods.
To put it simply, this poem advocates that eating porridge can preserve health and prolong life, and Li Shizhen also advocates porridge therapy. Porridge is the essence of five grains, which can calm stomach qi, promote fluid production and be easily digested, especially suitable for the elderly and people with weak spleen and stomach.
Compendium of Materia Medica praised porridge as extremely soft and greasy, compatible with the stomach, and the most wonderful formula for dietotherapy. And warned the world: "Generally speaking, there is nothing far-reaching and difficult to know, but between sleeping and eating, I ... pretend to persuade people to eat porridge every day."
It is also the best to drink porridge in autumn to moisten the lungs and protect the liver. Such as lily tremella porridge, can nourish yin and moisten dryness, prevent heatstroke and clear heat, and also help intestinal problems. Including lotus seed and lily eight-treasure porridge, in addition to some functions of lily and tremella porridge, it can also clear the heart and soothe the nerves. Another example is lotus leaf porridge, which is also good for diarrhea with damp heat and heavy dampness.

In terms of diet health, we also recommend a health care and disease prevention product, that is, beans.
"Compendium of Materia Medica" records: "Soybean is sweet, flat and non-toxic". Soybean has the highest content of protein among the existing crops. It also has the effects of invigorating qi, invigorating spleen, nourishing blood, strengthening brain, whitening skin and preventing osteoporosis.
Red beans can not only raise acacia, but also have high medicinal value. Compendium of Materia Medica records that red beans can avoid plague, cure dystocia, give birth to afterbirth and pass milk. Cooked with crucian carp, it can promote dampness and reduce swelling.
Compendium of Materia Medica records that black beans have the effects of tonifying kidney and nourishing blood, clearing away heat and toxic materials, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, blackening hair and improving eyesight, and prolonging life. The Secret Record of Life Extension says: "Eating black beans makes people grow skin, benefit color, fill essence and add strength."
White lentils have the function of strengthening spleen and stomach. "Compendium of Materia Medica" says: White lentils can "stop diarrhea, warm the spleen and stomach, remove damp heat and quench thirst", so patients with indigestion, vomiting and chronic diarrhea can take it regularly and cook porridge in autumn, which is a good product.
Mung beans are sweet, cold and non-toxic. It is not only a good product for relieving summer heat and benefiting qi in hot summer, but also can clear away heat and toxic materials, quench thirst and relieve vexation, induce diuresis and relieve hangover, treat sores and swelling, and treat burns. In the folk prescription, stir-fry the mung bean powder until it is brown, and apply it with vinegar to cure the initial swelling poison.
In Compendium of Materia Medica, Li Shizhen also mentioned that tofu has the functions of "soothing the middle energizer, invigorating qi, harmonizing the spleen and stomach, removing the tumor, reducing turbid qi in the large intestine, clearing heat and dispersing blood".
Therefore, tofu is not only delicious food, but also delicious medicine. Scientifically verified, the vegetable fat contained in tofu can reduce cholesterol, prevent arteriosclerosis, and have an auxiliary treatment effect on hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
Well, finally, I want to mention that the specific way needs to be chosen according to physical fitness. The contents of this issue are for reference only.
