What is the growth period, growth period and growth stage of wheat?
The number of days from emergence to maturity of wheat is called growth period. Its length varies greatly due to variety characteristics, ecological conditions and sowing date. The growth period of spring wheat is about 100 ~ 120 days, and that of winter wheat is 230 ~ 280 days.

According to the sequence of organ formation and convenient production management, the growth period of wheat is often divided into several growth periods. Generally, it includes 12 stages, including seedling stage, trilobal stage, tillering stage, wintering stage, turning green stage, rising stage (biological jointing stage), jointing stage, booting stage, heading stage, flowering stage, filling stage and maturity stage. Spring wheat has no wintering period and turning green period. There is no wintering period and turning green period for winter wheat in Jiangnan and Sichuan basins.

The growth period of wheat can be divided into three growth stages:

The vegetative growth stage of (1) is from germination to young panicle differentiation (tillering stage), and its growth characteristics are rooting, long leaves and tillering, which is the main period to determine the number of panicles per unit area.

(2) The parallel stage of vegetative growth and reproductive growth, that is, from the end of tillering to heading stage, is the parallel stage of continuous growth of roots, stems and leaves and the differentiation and formation of fruiting organs, which is the main period to determine the number of grains per ear.

(3) The reproductive growth stage, from heading to filling maturity, is the period that determines the grain weight.
