Chengdu has a subtropical monsoon climate, with early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. The annual average temperature is 16℃, and the annual rainfall is about 1000 mm. A notable feature of the weather in Chengdu is cloudy and short sunshine time. The folk proverb "Shu dog barks at the sun" is an image description of this climate feature.
Chengdu has been a park-like city since ancient times. After the completion of Dujiangyan, Chengdu has formed a unique urban pattern of two rivers circulation. The urban folk custom picture of living by water and the pastoral customs interwoven with the original ecological water system have become the daily life picture of Chengdu people for thousands of years.
