Extended data:

Laoshan Mountain is one of the cradles of Taoism. Laoshan has gathered a group of alchemists who have been engaged in health preservation and self-cultivation for a long time since the Spring and Autumn Period. By the end of the Warring States Period, Laoshan Mountain had become a famous "Fairy Mountain in the East China Sea" in China. Taoism flourished in Laoshan Mountain in Tang and Song Dynasties, reached its peak in Yuan and Ming Dynasties and remained in Qing Dynasty.

Laoshan Taoism has created a brand-new situation by merging Quanzhen School founded by Wang Zhongyang. During the Southern Song Dynasty and the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, Liu Chuxuan and Qiu Chuji, as Quanzhen religions, successively came to Laoshan to preach, making the Laoshan Temple officially belong to Quanzhen religion. Liu Chuxuan lived in Taiqing Palace for two years and preached metaphysics, making Taiqing Palace the ancestral home of the Hidden Mountain School founded by Liu Zu.

Since then, Qiu Chuji has visited Laoshan twice, on 1205 and 1209 respectively, which promoted the development of Quanzhen Taoism in Laoshan. Since Genghis Khan summoned Qiu Chuji, Quanzhen Taoism has flourished in the world, and seven disciples of Quanzhen have come to Laoshan to build palaces, which has brought Quanzhen Taoism into an all-round development period.

In the heyday of the Ming Dynasty, there was a prosperous scene of "Nine Palaces, Eight Views and Seventy-two Temples", making Laoshan the second jungle in Taoism.
