1, purple gas from the east

According to Records of the Historian, at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, Li Yong, an old man in history, saw that he was going to decline and went to the west to live in seclusion. In 49 1 BC, Yin was ordered to leave home early in the morning and stand on an earthen platform (now looking at the Purple Building) to see the purple sky in the east and enjoy the wonders of the sky. He was ecstatic and shouted, "Purple sky comes from the east, and strangers must pass by."

I hurried to ask the customs officer to clean the street and wait for the stranger. Sure enough, I saw an imposing old man with elegant silver hair riding a green cow backwards to close the door. Yin rushed forward to meet him and invited talented people to stay here after announcing his name. The talented person readily obeyed, and wrote the Tao Te Ching here, with 5,000 words. In the future, the lintel or Spring Festival couplets in Hanguguan area are willing to write "Purple gas comes from the east", which has been passed down to this day, indicating good luck.

2. A panacea for saving people

When I wrote the Tao Te Ching in Hangu, his green Niu Shan was raised by an old local farmer. At that time, a plague prevailed in Hanguguan area, and many people died, and doctors could do nothing. One day, Lao Tzu's green cow didn't eat or drink, which worried the breeder. He found a doctor, and the doctor said that people can't take a good look at cows, much less. The breeder pestered the cows to look hard, and the doctor helped them stand up. The cow stood unsteadily, and suddenly a meatball (now people say bezoar) was cut out, so the cow was relieved and ate grass with his mouth open.

The doctor was overjoyed, so he took the meatballs home, made them into small pills and distributed them to the sick people. The patient felt very light just after eating. People say this is an elixir to thank Lao Tzu for saving his life. Up to now, Lingbao still has the custom that the 23rd day of the first month is the festival of the ox. On this day, every door was pasted with a green cow pattern cut out with yellow paper, which read, "On the 23rd day of the first month, the old man in the sky refined the elixir, and every door was pasted with a golden bull, which was safe all the year round".

3, chicken calls dog thieves

During the Warring States Period, Meng Changjun of the State of Qi was famous for its hospitality and love for the virtuous. Xiang of Qin had already heard about it and wanted to go to Qin. He sent his younger brother Jingyang Jun to Qi as a hostage and invited him. Meng Changjun was jealous of the illness of the Prime Minister when he arrived in the State of Qin. In front of the king of Qin, respect words and frame them. After the King of Qin went back on his word, he wanted to kill him, but he was afraid of being reviled, so he temporarily imprisoned Meng Changjun.

After returning home, Jing Yangjun heard the news, wanted to save Meng Changjun, and asked her. Ji Xing asked for the fox white coat that Meng Changjun gave to the King of Qin. The last guest entered the warehouse through the dog hole, and the night watchman heard something. The guest barked like a dog and tricked the night watchman away. He stole the fox's white fur coat and gave it to Ji Xing. Fortunately, Ji helped to get the customs clearance documents, and Meng Changjun and his party hurried to Hangu Pass. It was already midnight. At that time, the customs clearance was "cock crowing switch, closing at sunset".

The pursuers are approaching and the situation is critical. At this time, a guest was standing in Tufu, crowing in the school, surrounded by roosters, and officials were busy opening and closing the door. Meng Changjun and his party hurried out of Hangu Pass. Later, after the disease came here, Meng Changjun had been through customs for a long time.

4. Xuanzong changed yuan

Li Longji, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty, began to think about alchemy and immortality after he ascended the throne. Many alchemists and Taoist priests provided elixirs, and the whole family was promoted. At that time, there was a soldier named Tian Tongxiu in Chen Jiali. One morning, he said that he dreamed that the old gentleman met him in Fengdan Building in Hanguguan at night. Lao Tzu said that there was a peach symbol buried in the place where he wrote the scriptures. Whoever can get it will win the world.

After hearing this, Xuanzong immediately ordered Tian Tongxiu to take Hanguguan to the place where Lao Tzu wrote the scriptures, dug three feet and dug out a peach symbol engraved with the word "wood", which was interpreted by all the ministers as 48. I said that I can bless Xuanzong to sit in the world for 48 years. Xuanzong was overjoyed, and immediately changed the Kaiyuan number to Tianbao Year number, made Lao Zi Emperor Tai Shang Xuanyuan, and changed Taolin County to Lingbao County.

5. Gongsun Baima

During the Warring States Period, Gong Sunlong, a guest of Zhao, wanted to study in Qin. At that time, a serious infectious disease was prevalent among horses around Zhao. After learning this, Qin posted a notice at the east gate of Hanguguan: Zhao's horse is not allowed to enter the customs. On this day, GongSunLong rode a white horse to Hangu Pass. After passing Jeff, he was about to pass by. The customs officer stopped him and said, you can pass the customs, but horses can't. Gong Sunlong is unhappy, and the horse can't pass. A white horse is not a horse. How can you not let it pass?

The customs official said: A white horse is also a horse! Gong Sunlong said: Am I a dragon? The customs officer was dumbfounded. He also said: White horse, white horse, or white and horse. For example, if you want a horse, you can give it to Huang Ma or a dark horse, but if you want a white horse, you can't give it to Huang Ma or a dark horse. This shows that a white horse and a horse are two different things, which means that a white horse is not a horse, so why not? Before the official realized it, he had rode through Hangu Pass.

The argument that a white horse is not a horse was a very important thing in philosophy at that time. It shows that ancient thinkers in China have begun to think about the relationship between the general and the individual.

Hanguguan, located in lingbao city, Henan Province, is located on the plateau, facing the precipice in the east, the Qinling Mountains in the south and the Yellow River in the north. It is one of the earliest Xiongguan fortresses in the history of China.

There are two Hangu Pass in history: Qinguan is located in the village of15km north of lingbao city, about 75km away from Sanmenxia; Han Guan moved eastward to Xin 'an County, Luoyang, west of Qin Guan150km. Because it is located in "two ancient roads in Beijing", close to the bank of the Yellow River, and because it is locked in a valley, it is called Hanguguan.
