Traditional Chinese medicine believes that foot is the beginning of the three yin meridians (spleen, liver and kidney) and the end of the three yang meridians (stomach, gallbladder and bladder), which is closely related to the five internal organs. Foot bath can promote blood circulation, make the blood vessels in the feet unobstructed, help to eliminate fatigue and improve sleep. Foot bath is divided into hot water foot bath and cold water foot bath, and everyone can choose according to their own situation.
Hot water foot bath, you can soak your feet in water at about 50℃ (until the ankle joint is 0℃) for about 20 minutes each time. This is equivalent to moxibustion with moxa sticks at foot acupoints, which can promote blood circulation and moisten viscera. Soaking feet with hot water can stimulate the nerve endings of the skin, regulate the functions of internal organs through the feedback of the central nervous system, promote metabolism and be beneficial to health. Soaking feet with hot water in winter can promote local blood circulation and prevent frostbite. After a long walk or strenuous exercise, soaking feet with hot water can reduce the accumulation of local lactic acid and help to eliminate fatigue. Soaking feet with hot water before going to bed can stimulate the central nervous system slightly, promote the cerebral cortex to enter a state of inhibition, and make people sleep peacefully.
Cold water foot bath, the water temperature should be gradually reduced, generally from 20℃ to 4℃, from autumn to winter can use cold water to soak feet. Before each foot bath, rub your feet with your hands to warm them up, then soak your feet in cold water and rub them with each other until your feet are flush. About 5 minutes each time, just do it once in the morning and once in the evening. Cold water foot bath not only makes the blood vessels in the foot contract strongly, but also makes the physiological functions of all systems in the whole body active under the regulation of neurohumors. Cold water bath can also increase the temperature of nasal mucosa, enhance respiratory resistance and prevent colds in winter. However, it should be noted that it should be dried and kept warm immediately after a cold bath.
