Miao Xiyong (1546- 1627), a native of Changshu, Jiangsu Province, whose real name is Zhong Chun, whose name is Mu Tai, was born in Juexiuju, and later moved to Jintan. A famous doctor in Ming dynasty was proficient in medical skills and had many miraculous effects in treating diseases. Existing works include "Extensive Notes on Medicine in Chuxingzhai", "Shen Nong's Classic of Materia Medica" and "Herbal Prescriptions".

Miao Xiyong was a famous physician in the late Ming Dynasty. There are 3 existing medical works, including 30 volumes of Shennong Herbal Classic, 9 volumes of Herbal Prescription 19, and 4 volumes of Notes on Early Awakening Medicine.

There are 30 volumes of Shennong's herbal classics, and more than 400 kinds of medicines are collected/kloc-0. The whole book takes "Zheng Ben Cao" as the key link and has the same directory. The first volume and the second volume are "continuous examples". One volume contains 33 medical theories, such as reading classics, dredging quotations, and "continuing cases", such as the origin of original herbs, mutual reference of main and auxiliary herbs, simple and mistaken reference of medicinal properties, original meaning of seven prescriptions, original meaning of ten herbs, reinforcing and reducing theory of five internal organs' bitter desires, treatment outline, and differences in medicinal properties. Volume 2 contains the general situation of drugs that should be avoided for various diseases and "under the order of continuing medication"

Herbal Prescription has 19 volumes. The book recorded 199 kinds of diseases and syndromes in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and pediatrics, recorded 4005 prescriptions and cited more than 400 kinds of medical books. The prescriptions contained in this paper all state their origin, prescription compatibility, drug processing, addition and subtraction taboos, etc. The prescriptions contained in the book are mostly famous prescriptions, single prescriptions and secret recipes that were practical and effective in ancient times and at that time, and there are secret recipes and proven prescriptions of Miao's "secret teaching and understanding".
