Master Miao Zhi (A.D. 1888 ~ 2003)

Master Miao Zhi, whose common name is Cai, is a native of Songcang, and his ancestral home is Fuzhou, Fujian. Born in the 14th year of Guangxu reign (1888) on December 28th. I studied medicine with my father since I was a child. I studied hard and my medical skills were excellent. He devoted his life to helping the world, relieved the suffering of countless patients, and was still practicing medicine four days before his death, which was well received by people from all walks of life.

1937, Master Miao Zhi realized that the world was changing and life was impermanent, and decided to become a monk. He is also a barber teacher at Gushiyan Temple in Fugong Town, Longhai County, Fujian Province. In the late 1930s, he was instructed by the old monk Xu Yun at Yongquan Temple in Gushan, Fuzhou.

1996, the Buddhist Association of Zhangpu County, Fujian Province invited Master Miao Zhi to give lectures at Wei Zi Temple and Xingjiao Temple in Wu Shiyan. 1999, Shi Luming invited his tutor to live in Xiangguang Temple in longwen district, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. This longevity star, who has spanned three centuries, was awarded the title of "The Fifth National Elderly Health" in 2000, ranking first.

Master Miao Zhi was merciful all his life and was a teacher. All his savings are used for social welfare undertakings such as helping the poor, helping students, helping the disabled, adopting abandoned babies, stocking wild animals and planting trees. As well as the construction of temples, seals, sculptures and other Buddhist undertakings, to promote Buddhism and benefit life.

1999, Mr. Chen Lifu, the 100-year-old president of Taiwan Province Confucius and Mencius Research Institute, was very happy to learn that Master Miao Zhi, who was11,was still alive and gave Miao Lao the title of "Wonder Man" in Mo Bao. Master Miao Zhi also happily wrote "Celebrating the Year of the Pine Crane" in return for Mr. Chen Lifu's centenary birthday. The calligraphy of the century birthday star on both sides of the strait is extremely unique. What a pity!

Master Miao Zhi devoted his life to the practice of "Pharmacist Law". The way of Buddhist health preservation advocated by him is: "three diligence": brain diligence, hand diligence and foot diligence; "three quietness": Zen, quietness and quietness; "three intransigence": ignoring power, money and age; "Three pleasures": helping others, being contented and enjoying yourself. It not only contains the connotation of health preservation and quiet rest, but also contains the truth of Buddhism's compassion to help the world, which is worth learning from in today's world.

From September 9th to17th, 2002, Master Miao Zhi and his party aged15 107 went to Jiuhua Mountain, Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, qixia temple, Luoyang Baima Temple, Shaolin Temple and Yongtai Temple to worship Buddha. Master Miao Zhi has traveled thousands of miles through six provinces, including Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Zhejiang and Fujian, and his freedom of movement is inseparable from his lifelong "efforts". On the afternoon of September 1 1, 2002, I visited the body of Zen master Ci Ming in Jiuhuashan, and I was deeply touched. That night, I said to the abbot of Tianchi Temple in Jiuhuashan, "Please take care of me when I die." .
