Xiao, an instrument that makes sound by blowing holes. A wind instrument popular in China, also called Dong Xiao, is made of bamboo.
According to legend, this musical instrument originated from the Qiang nationality. Before the Qing dynasty, Xiao mostly refers to the flute, and the image of flute playing can be seen in the pottery figurines of Han dynasty and the epitaph of Jiayuguan Wei and Jin dynasties. But the single pipe flute was often called "flute" at that time. At present, Dong Xiao is usually made of nine purple bamboos, with a total length of about 80 cm. The air hole is at the top, and the tube body has 6 holes, the first 5 are 1, and the proximal end has 2-4 sound holes.
