Brief introduction of Pan Maoming.
Pan Maoming, commonly known as "Pan Xian" in western Guangdong, is a famous figure immortalized by later generations.

Chu Shi was born on March 24th, the first year of Taixi in the Western Jin Dynasty (290), and was born in Yongjia in the Western Jin Dynasty (307-3 13). He is from Genzi Town, Gaozhou City, Maoming City, Guangdong Province. He lives in a mountain village near Fushan Mountain, and it is said that he lives in Yapan Village halfway up Fushan Mountain. According to legend, in the first year of Kangning in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (373), Pan Maoming died at the dusk of the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (Double Ninth Festival) at the age of 83.

In 598, in the eighteenth year of Emperor Yangdi's reign in Huang Kai, Maoming County was established and named after Pan Maoming to commemorate Pan Maoming's kindness to the people in western Guangdong. In the eighth year of Tang Zhenguan (634), Pan Maoming's name was used to change Nantangzhou to Panzhou. Today, the name of Maoming city also comes from this. In China, Pan Maoming is the only person who established a state, county and prefecture-level city in the name of a Taoist.

Cultural thoughts:

Pan Maoming belonged to Dante School in his early days. Dante school, also known as "paradox", is the general name of various schools of alchemy, which was first developed by ancient Huang. Dante sent Feidan and Neidan.

External elixir refers to the edible elixir made by burning mineral drugs such as lead and mercury in a furnace and pot, which prevailed before Sui and Tang Dynasties. Inner Dan generally refers to taking the human body as a "furnace pot" and taking its own essence as medicine, which is formed by the intersection of essence and qi. After the Song and Yuan Dynasties, it replaced Waidan, which has been popular ever since. Starting from the pursuit of "immortality", Dante School promoted the development of chemical smelting and qigong health preservation in ancient China.

Pan Maoming's alchemy developed early Taoist medicine in western Guangdong and attached importance to Taoist "external alchemy". It is advocated that lead and mercury are mixed with other drugs as raw materials and burned in fire to make Dan medicine, which can be "touched" and "taken". Dan medicine is a branch of traditional medicine in China, which originated in the Qin and Han Dynasties and is the result created by ancient Chinese warlocks.

Modern medicine has found that lead and mercury, which are commonly used as raw materials for alchemy, are toxic metals, and excessive use will cause death. In western Guangdong, which was backward about 1700 years ago, Taoist priests such as Pan Maoming were unknown.

Pan Maoming believes that "purity is the purpose of an alchemist". His Taoist thought comes from two classics, Quiet and Heart Seal. He believes that the three products of medicine include spirit, qi and essence. He emphasized that "God can rock, God can fly, he can't drown in water, he can't burn in fire", and so on. These are all Taoist theories of "Inner alchemy".
