Li Hongzao served as a cabinet scholar, military affairs, etiquette, industry department, official department history, military affairs history and other important positions in the late Qing Dynasty. Because his name is only one word away from Li Hongzhang, he is often unfamiliar with Qing history.

Readers misread that Li Hongzhang and Li Hongzhang are brothers, or at least brothers of the same clan. In fact, this "Li Er" was just an official of the same dynasty. It is just a coincidence that their names are similar. Li Hongzhang is from Anhui and Li Hongzao is from Hebei. They are not related by blood.

The Qing government also refused to approve this agreement and demanded the recall of Chonghou. With the joint efforts of Li Hongzao, Zhang Zhidong and others, British and French Minister Ceng Jize was appointed as a part-time job.

Send a Russian envoy to Russia to negotiate the contract change. After more than half a year's negotiations, Ceng Jize signed the Sino-Russian Ili Treaty with Russian Foreign Minister Giles and Russian Ambassador to China Buze in St. Petersburg, Russia on February 24th, 872.
