Jiang Yang: the highest wisdom of women.
Live an elegant life.

Author: insight, simple and green

"We were so eager for the waves of fate that we finally found that the most beautiful scenery in life is actually inner peace and calmness."

Jiang Yang, who was called "the most virtuous wife and the most talented woman" by Qian Zhongshu, lived a sober and self-sustaining life.

Distinguish between right and wrong and don't change your mind in a difficult situation.

Even in my old age, I am no longer alert and observant, but the ever-burning lamp lit in my heart has been burning.

Therefore, no matter what the circumstances, she lives comfortably and peacefully.

1

Clear-headed: Choose a person to die and meet someone to grow old together.

Qian Zhongshu once wrote a beautiful sentence to Jiang Yang:

This sentence also applies to Jiang Yang's feelings for Qian Zhongshu.

Qian Zhongshu was a famous genius in Tsinghua at that time. He is knowledgeable, aloof and inaccessible.

Jiang Yang is outstanding but not unique;

"When Jiang Yang entered Tsinghua University, he was brilliant and handsome. At that time, there were more than 70 boys who wanted to be my spouse, and the banter was dubbed the seventy-two devils. "

In the face of an endless stream of suitors, even pestering lothario, she refused.

Many of these people who fell at her feet were aristocratic men and talented young people, but she didn't move her heart until she met Qian Zhongshu.

1932 In the spring, they met at the entrance of Gu Yue Hall in Tsinghua.

At that time, Qian Zhongshu wore a gown and old-fashioned cloth shoes, and his face was thin. He doesn't look like a seven-foot-tall man, but in Jiang Yang's eyes, he is like a beacon.

In Jiang Yang's description of the future, Qian Zhongshu is witty and humorous, knowledgeable and "beautiful and profound" in his brow.

And Qian Zhongshu likes Jiang Yang very much. This is a beautiful woman who once wrote poems to praise her:

At first, the new petals of the rose were soaked.

I don't know if I have ever taken red flowers and snowflakes when I wash my face.

Knowing Jun at first is like returning to an old friend.

This kind of beauty happened to two talented women with profound traditional cultural personality, which is also extremely romantic.

1935, they got married.

The famous literary critic Xia Zhiqing once said:

After their marriage, they treated each other as guests, playing the piano and singing. Until Qian Zhongshu died in 1998, Jiang Yang lived a widowed life.

Once, her classmate Fei Xiaotong went to visit her. Fei Xiaotong is a famous sociologist and figure in the history of China.

As a classmate of Jiang Yang, Fei Xiaotong likes her very much. She was also one of Jiang Yang's suitors in college, but why "flowers are intentional and water is ruthless"

When Jiang Yang was single, Fei Xiaotong, who had been widowed for four years at that time, had the idea of getting back together.

When Fei Xiaotong went downstairs trembling, Jiang Yang said to him, "The stairs are not easy to walk, so don't get stuck in them in the future."

Fei Xiaotong was completely dead at this point.

In this life, Jiang Yang's attitude towards feelings has always been extremely calm.

Even if there were many suitors when she was young, even if she was widowed in her later years, she knew exactly where her heart belonged, so she never gave others a chance.

This can avoid unnecessary interference in love and will not tend to escape. We will put our energy and feelings into one person and stick to our eternal life.

Writer Lu Sihao wrote in "May someone accompany you from one place to another":

In this increasingly noisy and impetuous era, we are faced with too many choices in many things, especially love.

We should face it soberly when "squandering flowers is becoming more and more attractive". True love is not a tool to fill loneliness, nor is it an "upper position" to climb the dragon and attach the phoenix.

It is the echo of soul to soul, which can bear a lifetime together, more appropriate and more practical.

Wake up when you are in trouble: people are at a low tide and have to cross the river by themselves.

1969, she and Qian Zhongshu were sent to Henan cadre school for renovation, and Jiang Yang was arranged to grow vegetables.

Translator Ye later recalled: "Jiang Yang looked after the vegetable garden during the day. She used this time to sit on a pony and use her knees as a writing desk, reading or writing. "

The companion recalled her, "You can't see her melancholy or sadness, she always smiles."

After the reform of ultra-leftwing through labor, she wrote Six Records of ultra-leftwing.

The language is concise and playful, and the style is distinct. It writes all kinds of experiences of low life in an almost rough way, and tells the absurdity and cruelty of an era with a peaceful style and appropriate shades.

Hu Qiaomu liked this book very much and once gave it ten six-character evaluations:

"Complain without anger, grieve without injury, be sentimental and tell the truth."

Seemingly dull prose masterpieces are actually written in the past.

Those experiences of fear, sadness, anger and despair in other people's eyes were internalized by her as enough nutrients to nourish her health and she was indifferent to herself.

Because she knows that crying, whining, begging and self-pity are useless. Only when people see the present situation clearly can they overcome suffering.

Just as each of us may encounter some setbacks or even difficulties in life.

When a person is in a trough, only by staying awake enough can he believe that he has reached the extreme, rooted in the earth and ready to go.

Only when the light comes can we embrace hope with the attitude of rebirth.

three

Stay awake when you are lonely: be loyal to your art, you don't know your age, and let wealth and reputation drift like clouds.

1997, Jiang Yang called her daughter Qian Yuan "the only masterpiece in my life" died.

A year later, Qian Zhongshu also passed away.

Before he died, one of his eyes refused to close. Jiang Yang attached it to his ear and whispered, "Don't worry, I'm here!" "

In order to reassure her relatives in the sky, she paid special attention to her health. In addition to a moderate diet and a regular life, she insists on walking 7000 steps at home every day. She tried to keep strong to cope with loneliness and the erosion of time.

The following year, the Collected Works of Jiang Yang was published, and the publishing house was going to plan a seminar on his works with great fanfare. She refused:

In her later years, the media kept inviting her, but like Qian Zhongshu, she almost declined all media visits.

"Hiding in a small building into a unity", she is only immersed in her own world: translating books and writing.

When I was young, I didn't pay attention to fame and fortune. In my later years, all the fame and noise were like clouds to her.

On July 17, on her birthday, many people always called to wish or visit her. Jiang Yang's response was "Just give me noodles".

Even on her ninetieth birthday, she hid in Tsinghua University Guest House for a few days, in order to "avoid longevity".

She is naturally cold, but she also has the enthusiasm to join the WTO.

In the name of three members of her family, she donated all the manuscript fees and royalties of more than eight million yuan to her alma mater, Tsinghua University, and set up a "study hard" scholarship.

On May 25th, 20 16, 105-year-old Jiang Yang ended her life and passed away peacefully, just like the poem she once quoted by the English poet Rand:

"My hands are baking the fire of life to keep warm; The fire has gone out and I'm ready to go. "

This soul, which has gone through a hundred years of vicissitudes, has never lost its direction in life from beginning to end, and has maintained a consistent dilution and joy, a clear mind and a self-consistency of sadness and joy.

Whether fate gives her a storm or a breeze; Whether facing the great rivers of the times or the trickle of life, she can face all situations clearly and thoroughly.

You can convert to your true heart in prosperity, be comfortable in adversity, choose moderately, and advance and retreat freely.

Such a woman not only lived out the top wisdom, but also lived out the myriad weather of life.
