What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy was invented by French chemist Renee Maurice Gateforth in 1937. By chance, he found that peppermint or lavender oil had special therapeutic effects.

Once he accidentally burned his hand in his perfume laboratory. In a panic, I immediately poured peppermint oil from the bottle beside me and applied it to my hands. His hand healed quickly without scar. He thinks this is because of the special effect of peppermint oil.

This experience aroused his interest and began to study the therapeutic effects of some essential oils. These oils come from natural materials and are of high purity. They are made by distilling the flowers of plants. He called this new method "aromatherapy".

Essential oils with chemical fragrance have been used for a long time. Ancient Egyptians used essential oil massage after bathing and treated mummies. The Greeks used it in medicine and cosmetics. Aromatherapy originated from ancient civilizations such as ancient Egypt and prevailed in Europe in modern times. This is an ancient therapy, which uses essential oil to relieve mental stress and improve health. At first, it was mainly used for refreshing or religious meditation.

Aromatherapy has not been in China for a long time, but it is quickly favored by domestic people, but it has blossomed everywhere in this vast land, and aromatherapy has appeared in all walks of life. Why are China people so addicted to aromatherapy? In fact, aromatherapy is very similar to traditional Chinese medicine in China.

Both aromatherapy and traditional Chinese medicine have a very long history, both of which have the efficacy of treating diseases, beautifying and preserving health, and both need to be carried out under the guidance of their respective theories. Essential oil in aromatherapy is equivalent to traditional Chinese medicine. Single drug has its own efficacy in treating corresponding diseases and solving corresponding problems. A prescription composed of a variety of single drugs can better treat a disease or a disease that cannot be treated by a single drug. This is the * * * interaction of several drugs. A single essential oil is equivalent to a single medicine, a compound essential oil is equivalent to a prescription, and some functions of base oil are like decoction. Traditional Chinese medicine needs to be processed and essential oil needs to be extracted. Traditional Chinese medicine therapy will use acupuncture, scraping boards and other instruments, while aromatherapy needs smoking and aromatherapy machines. Traditional Chinese medicine therapy has massage, acupoints and other techniques, and aromatherapy also has its own unique massage techniques; Traditional Chinese medicine therapy includes oral administration, external application, absorption, massage, acupoints, scraping and other modes of action, and essential oil also has oral administration, absorption, affinity and other modes of action.
