What is the old adage of eating without talking?
The old saying "Eat without talking" is what Confucius said: "Eat without talking, sleep without talking".

As early as more than two thousand years ago, Confucius put forward that "eat without words, sleep without words". It means you can't chat while eating; Don't talk before going to bed. This used to be an old saying that has been circulated for thousands of years, but now it is gradually forgotten.

There are three reasons for "food without words":

1, so that nutrients can be fully absorbed.

If you talk while eating, it may lead to food entering the gastrointestinal tract without adequate chewing. Nutrients are hard to be absorbed by human body. If you are distracted, some yin and yang will be scattered, and the energy of the spleen and stomach will be insufficient, which will affect the absorption of food and nutrition. After a long time, it will lead to diseases in the spleen and stomach.

2. Reduce the burden of gastrointestinal tract and prevent gastrointestinal diseases.

If you talk a lot when eating, or read and think while eating, it is bound to swallow the food that has not been chewed, which will increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract. Modern medicine also believes that when eating, a large amount of blood in the human body is concentrated on digestive organs such as the stomach to promote digestion. If you talk while eating, people's nerves will fluctuate according to different topics, and the amount of blood flowing to the brain will increase, thus affecting the function of the stomach.
