1. Irritating laxatives
This kind of laxatives and their metabolites directly stimulate the intestinal wall, strengthen intestinal peristalsis, and thus promote fecal excretion. Such as guide, castor oil, rhubarb, etc. This laxative is the most commonly used medicine for constipation patients. If used for a long time, it will cause the side effect of reducing intestinal pressure, so it is not suitable for common use.
Step 2 dilute laxatives
Also known as volume laxatives. This laxative can prevent the intestinal tract from absorbing water and increase the intestinal content. At the same time, they are difficult to be absorbed after oral administration, which can form high osmotic pressure in the intestine and increase water content and chyme capacity. Because of large capacity, intestinal expansion, mechanical stimulation of the intestine, so that intestinal peristalsis increased, defecation. Such laxatives include magnesium sulfate and sodium sulfate (mirabilite).
Step 3 lubricate laxatives
Such as liquid paraffin, edible oil, etc. This laxative can lubricate the intestinal wall, soften the stool and make it easy to discharge. Liquid paraffin is not absorbed after oral administration or enema, which will hinder the absorption of water in the intestine. As an ideal laxative, it has the phenomenon of oil stains polluting underwear, and long-term application can interfere with the absorption of vitamins A, D, K, calcium and phosphorus.
