Ma Yuan Village belongs to Yuyao City and is the former site of Hongshan Township Government. Going back, it is an out-and-out historical ancient village. There was a big official here in the Ming Dynasty, and he also named the village. This official is Yuan Yi. Yuan Yi, with an old word, was a teacher, a minister of the Ministry of Housing and a college student of Jianji Pavilion during the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. Therefore, Ma Yuan Village is now also called Ge Lao's hometown.
It is said that this village used to be the world of the Ma family, and the village name is Village. After becoming famous, the village took Yuan as your surname and renamed it Village. This is what the villagers say, and there is no official data to confirm it. Whether this is true or not is debatable.
In the east of Ma Yuan Village, there is a big reservoir, which is shaped like a butterfly on the tip of a grass, and also like a crooked withered vine. The road next to the reservoir is the only access to Ma Yuan Village. However, this road twists and turns around the reservoir, reaching Haishu in the south, Hemudu in the east and Yuyao in the north. This reservoir is called Lubu Reservoir, which is the first-class drinking water source in Yuyao City. The scenery here is beautiful, and there are many Taxodium ascendens forests in the lake. This is a good place to enjoy redwoods.
No matter which direction you enter Ma Yuan Village from the reservoir, the first thing you see is the wetland park at the head of the village. This wetland park is low-lying and semi-submerged. Many Metasequoia glyptostroboides are planted in the wetland. There are several circuitous paths in the forest. There is a stone bridge on the road. There is no lettering on the bridge, so it is impossible to tell the age. Before the Ma Yuan Bridge was built nearby, these paths and bridges were the main access to the village.
Most of the water in Lubu Reservoir and this wetland comes from the stream of Siming Mountain Stream. Most other mountain villages in Ningbo have only one or two streams, but Ma Yuan Village has four. These streams pass through the village, bringing flexibility and vitality to Ma Yuan Village. Many bridges have been built on these streams, with different shapes and ages. I asked the old people in the village, and they told me that there are many bridges in the village, but there are no stories, not famous bridges.
Walk south along this wetland into the village, and see a huge "Ma Yuan" lettering stone across the bridge and into Ma Yuan Village. There are two roads here. Crossing the bridge is a newly built road in the village, with brand-new houses on both sides. The wide stream turning left is the most beautiful scenery in the village.
Different from other villages, the streams and banks of Ma Yuan Village have a wide view of the scenery, and the streams are abundant and crystal clear, such as just overflowing mountain springs. There are many overflow dams and hydrophilic steps on the stream, and there are several people washing by the stream in every place. A section of the bank of the stream is made of round stones. There are many ancient trees by the stream. Lush branches extend obliquely to the stream, and ducks are playing under the tree. This is also one of the most unique scenery in Ma Yuan Village.
Most of the ancient houses in the village, such as Gu Lei Wall Gate, Wengjia Old House and Ma Yuan Rural Wind Hall, are located beside these streams. The gatehouse of the house faces the stream, and you can reach the stream in a few steps outside the door. Houses with blue bricks and green tiles are scattered in every stream.
The beauty of Ma Yuan Village lies in that the whole village consists of streams, ancient houses, wetlands, green hills and reservoirs, forming a beautiful natural landscape. These landscapes combine to form a unique village in Ma Yuan. There is no poetry and painting in Wuzhen, Zhouzhuang and other water towns in the south of the Yangtze River, but there is a unique tranquility and tranquility in the countryside, which is very smoky, just like green tea, which makes people remember for a long time.
There's another scenic spot in Ma Yuan Village that I have to say. Villagers like to pickle a dried plum vegetable, the main components of which are bamboo shoots and pickles. They sliced bamboo shoots and hung them on bamboo poles in the yard or in front of the door with ropes, which looked like pieces of bacon from a distance. Walking in Ma Yuan Village, you can always see dried bamboo shoots. The "bacon" made of these bamboo shoots is simply another unique scenery in the village.
I spent less than half a day visiting Ma Yuan Village, but it was this quick glance that made me fall in love with this quiet and beautiful village and the almost boundless life in my hometown.
