Why didn't the six ancestors of Zen pass on?
On the one hand, this was deliberately arranged by the Buddha, who said before his death that Buddhism only existed in the world 1 1500 years.

"Five hundred years of law, one thousand years of law, ten thousand years of law" reached the sixth ancestor, just like the law era at the end of one thousand years, and entered the last law era. After the demise of the six ancestors, it entered the era of law at the end of ten thousand. The Buddha said, because all beings in the last Dharma era and after the last Dharma era are blessed, thin and shallow, and do not deserve to listen to the Dharma.

People who can understand Buddhism now can imagine how lucky they are. Buddhism disappeared in this world after the last 10 thousand years of Buddhism.

Second, due to the laws of nature, precious things are scarce and eventually disappear. For example, redwood nanmu was scarce in the past. If it was not protected in time, it would have disappeared long ago. Looking around, pine and cypress and good useful talents have been replaced by thorns and weeds because of excessive and illegal logging and the rapid reduction of fires. Buddhism also has this uniqueness and preciousness. In the countless billions of years after the end of the Buddhist era, people have heard of Buddhism, and even the concept of Buddhism has disappeared.

Buddhism disappeared in many forms.

First, after long-term destruction and weathering, the Buddha statues and Buddhist monuments in various places have disappeared beyond recognition.

Second, because of the long time away from Buddhism, few people really understand the true meaning of Buddhism. In addition, Buddhist scriptures are profound and profound, and they are all profound and difficult to understand. Generally speaking, Buddhism is misinterpreted and misinterpreted. After a long time, people will find it more difficult to believe and understand Buddhism, which hinders the spread of Buddhism. The Buddha said that "the evil teacher in the last days of Buddhism said that it was like the Ganges sand", which artificially accelerated the demise of Buddhism.

According to the Sutra of Maitreya Bodhisattva's Next Life, it will take 5.67 billion years for Maitreya Bodhisattva to become a Buddha in the next life, and all living beings in this world can hear Buddhism again.
