In the Northern Song Dynasty, the imperial court gave officials "extra money", with subsidies for daily necessities, and the government paid for hiring servants and secretaries. At this stage, Su Dongpo lived a well-off life and dared to speak out.

In desperation, Su Dongpo had to raise chickens and make Dongpo vegetable soup himself-cooked with leeks, radishes and turnips (that is, cabbage, kohlrabi and radishes) and steamed rice on it. At that time, people mistakenly thought that there was miasma in the south, which made people sick. In order to get rid of miasma, Su Dongpo resumed drinking.

A generation of writers did not shut up.

In the third year of Fu Yuan (1 100), Su Dongpo, who had been exiled to Lingnan for seven years, was finally pardoned and returned to the north. When passing through Yizhen (now Yizheng City, Jiangsu Province), the weather was hot and he suddenly had a stomachache. "Eat will feel bloated, don't eat will feel uncomfortable. Su Dongpo's own Mai Men Dong Tang (including Ginseng, Poria, Mai Men Dong Tang) once relieved his illness. Scholar Liu Jizeng found that Mai Men Dong Tang was included in Compendium of Materia Medica by Li Shizhen. It has a miraculous effect on the treatment of aplastic anemia (hereinafter referred to as "aplastic anemia"), which was called myelopathy by the ancients and included in the Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1977 edition).

The pathogenesis of aplastic anemia is still unclear, which may be related to pollution, radiation, immune impairment and heredity. In Song Dynasty, life in Lingnan was hard. Su Dongpo is ill, old and drunk, which puts him in extreme danger. When Su Zhe learned this, he solemnly warned that he could not drink any more.
