The founder of Tong Ren Tang is Le Xianyang.
Le Xianyang, nicknamed Zunyu, was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, and moved to Beijing during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. Three generations of ancestors practiced medicine. He has been exposed to everything since he was a child. He widely read ancient books and devoted himself to the research and production of prescription drugs.
He regarded practicing medicine and selling medicine as the highest pursuit of health preservation and serving the society, and Le Xianyang founded Tongrentang Pharmacy in the eighth year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1669).
1989, the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce recognized Tongrentang as a well-known trademark and was specially protected by the state. Tongrentang is also the first trademark in China to apply for international registration in Madrid and the first trademark in Chinese mainland to apply for registration in Taiwan Province Province.
