Why are rabbit ears so long?
The rabbit's long ears can help it in at least two ways: they can help the rabbit hear weak sounds (like the sounds made by carnivores when they are quietly approaching) and determine where the sounds come from. Another function is to help rabbits dissipate heat. Rabbits have many blood vessels in their ears. When the air around the ear flows, the temperature of warm blood will drop. This can help rabbits regulate their body temperature. Humans achieve this goal by sweating. Dogs breathe to dissipate heat, and rabbits prick up their ears. This can not only ensure safety but also cool down.
